Hastings - Oh Darling, It's Pink Tutu Time! (Blog Post #9092)

Hey, lovelies! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the beautiful seaside town of Hastings! The wind's whipping through my feather boa, the sun's glinting off my diamanté-studded tutu, and the seagulls are cheering me on. It's a fabulous day to be a pink-loving drag queen!

It feels like just yesterday I was bouncing through Derbyshire in my pink tutu, trying to figure out how to pack enough feather boas for a week on the road. But here I am, living the dream - travel, fabulousness, and, of course, the all-important mission: to spread the pink tutu gospel far and wide.

Getting here was a real adventure. I managed to snag a last-minute seat on a steam train that chugged along the coast. The rhythmic sway of the carriages made it impossible to resist belting out "All I Ask Of You" from Phantom of the Opera. It wasn't just the music - that Victorian steam train was a time machine. Just imagine: you, a pink-tutu clad vision in pink, watching the sun paint the sky in shades of lavender while Victorian ladies with frilly parasols stare in awe...pure magic!

But, of course, there was the usual chaos: feather boas tangled, lipstick smears, and my trusty sparkly platform heels threatening to take off on a life of their own. Thank heavens for hairspray, duct tape, and a healthy dose of self-confidence!

Once I arrived, the charm of Hastings was immediate. It's like stepping into a storybook with cobblestone streets, pastel-coloured houses, and the smell of saltwater and fish and chips in the air. I can't help but smile when I hear the laughter of families playing on the beach, and the gentle thrum of music from the pubs.

My show at The Royal Hippodrome Theatre was positively divine! The audience was up on their feet cheering for me in a flash. It's been years since I saw so much pink tutus amongst the crowd! A big round of applause to my dear friends who wore pink in solidarity. I always love seeing people taking their fashion cues from me.

You wouldn’t believe how many people asked about my "secret." I always explain it this way: “Darling, life's too short to be anything but sparkly! So, put on your pink tutu and twirl with abandon!" The reaction? You can almost hear the light bulbs switch on above their heads as the realisation hits them: Oh! Of course! They've all secretly longed to let their inner fabulous shine.

Now, you might be wondering: "Alex, how does this queen manage to fund all this amazing travelling and keep the pink tutu game strong?” Well, I’ll tell you – hard work! By day I'm Alex, a scientist in a lab, making sure the fabric that wraps us all is perfect. I even find myself secretly testing the fluffiness of feather boas for potential new additions to my wardrobe! And by night? Oh, the transformation is legendary! A quick change, a sprinkle of magic (and glitter), and voila! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles taking the world by storm!

It's not just the stage work that helps, though. It’s the kindness of strangers! A few months ago, I was asked to judge a talent show for the Hastings Community Centre, where I met a local ballet class who were mesmerized by my glitter. They invited me to their performance – can you imagine? A whole room of young ballerinas twirling with me, giggling as we tried out new pink tutu combinations! That's why I always say, “Being kind, sharing your talents, and embracing the sparkle within is truly the ultimate pink tutu move!”

After a few days, I find myself torn – I long for home, the familiar scents of my laboratory, and the calming rituals of a normal routine. But, as I gaze at the seagulls playing amongst the clouds and smell the fresh sea air, I can't help but think, "What if I stayed a little longer?"

So, dear lovelies, watch out for the upcoming Pink Tutu Sparkles show on Saturday. You can find me on the seafront! Don’t be shy; grab a pink tutu, bring your family and friends, and get ready to dance with Pink Tutu Sparkles!

Now, off I go to explore some vintage shops, hunt for the perfect antique feather boa, and hopefully find some pink velvet slippers to complete my Hastings ensemble! I’ll catch you next time, from another adventure in a fabulous pink tutu. Until then, keep sparkling!

Much love, Pink Tutu Sparkles ❤️💖💗
