Royal Tunbridge Wells - Pink Tutu Sparkles Blog Post No. 9151

Hello my gorgeous darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the lovely Royal Tunbridge Wells, where the air is crisp and the shops are bursting with tempting tutus. whispers Just wait til you see the new pastel pink number I picked up from a boutique called The Frou-Frou Emporium.

Today’s blog post is all about my adventure getting here – the joys of travel in a tutu, a bit of ballet, and a sneak peek at what I’ve got planned for the evening’s performance. You know, as a fabulous drag queen, my life isn’t all glitter and rhinestones. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes planning that goes into each performance, which I'm always happy to share with you all.

Travel Adventures

As usual, I went with the classic option - a scenic train journey from Derby! I've got to tell you, it's so much more civilised than any other mode of transport. There’s just something magical about gazing out of the window, watching the landscape change from green fields to bustling towns, all while sipping on a delicious latte with oat milk, naturally!

The journey to Tunbridge Wells was truly charming, and you know I can't travel without my signature pink tutu. It might seem like a lot for a train journey, but let's face it - pink is my colour and a tutu is the perfect expression of my love for dance and fashion! Honestly, even the conductor had a twinkle in his eye when he saw me. He even let me off at the station early so I could grab a photo in front of the floral clock! It's such a picturesque spot!

A Pink Tutu’s Got to Be Seen!

Speaking of photo-ops, have you seen the Instagram post of my pinkalicious lunch at The Tunbridge Wells Tearoom? They have a phenomenal cream tea, all pastel shades, perfect for a drag queen's afternoon snack! They even have a wall with an Instagram frame, so of course I had to strike a pose for my followers!

I managed to squeeze in a little ballet practice before heading out for tonight’s show. You see, my motto is ‘never let go of your passion!’ Even though I’ve been performing in drag for over five years now, I still love a good ballet class!

The beautiful Royal Tunbridge Wells Dance Studio was right next to the theatre, so I made the most of it, perfecting my graceful leaps and twirls. It’s all about making those tutus twirl as effortlessly as possible, darlings!

Preparing for Tonight's Performance

Oh! Let’s talk about tonight's show! I'm excited, this is going to be one for the books. I've picked a vibrant blue and purple combination tutu, sparkling with holographic sequins, that I think will capture the heart of the audience in Tunbridge Wells. There's something electrifying about watching your outfits sparkle under the stage lights! Of course, I've already got the make-up done - nothing but the best glitter for a drag queen on the go!

Tonight’s theme is “A Fairy Tale Masquerade.” Imagine a world of glamour, glittering masks, and magic. I’ve incorporated some elements into my dance routine to capture the theme perfectly. I think my audience is in for a treat!

Why a Pink Tutu?

My drag journey began while studying science at university. It was a wild moment. You wouldn't believe it! Our student union was hosting a charity event called “Tutus for Hope,” raising funds for cancer research, and it was encouraged for the students to wear a pink tutu for the day! Well, I can't explain the magic it sparked, but putting on that fluffy pink skirt changed my life, from that moment, it was all I could think about. Pink became my favourite colour, my love for tutus bloomed, and suddenly the idea of drag became an obsession.

Fast forward to now, I am proud to say I combine my scientific work with my artistic pursuits. The irony is that in the day, I’m in the lab, testing the composition of fabric! It’s hilarious! But every night, I take to the stage and transform, turning that love of fabrics into beautiful performances for a crowd that just wants to have fun!

So, you can imagine the irony when people ask, “Alex, why do you always wear a pink tutu?” I can’t explain it. It’s my signature. The way I see it, pink isn't just a colour, it's a feeling. It's all about having fun, being expressive, and loving who you are - and yes, rocking that pink tutu. It’s like magic dust! It sparkles, it twirls, and it tells the world, “I’m here to celebrate life, love, and a whole lot of fabulousness!”

A Little Something Extra - Spread the Tutu Love

You know what would truly make me sparkle? Seeing you all in your own pink tutus. Whether it's a whimsical ball gown or a simple tulle skirt, every tutu has the power to lift your spirits! So, let's start a movement, a celebration of fun, joy, and pink. Let’s get everyone wearing pink tutus - from London to Derby, from Brighton to Royal Tunbridge Wells - the world will be a more vibrant and magical place with everyone in their pink tulle!

Have you got a pink tutu, darling? I want to see your pictures, and don’t forget to share your own tutu tales on my website, www.pink-tutu.com. It’s going to be a fab night in Royal Tunbridge Wells and I can’t wait to bring a little pink tutu magic to the stage! Until next time!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xoxo
