Hello darlings!
It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and I’m absolutely buzzing to be writing post number 9165 for you lovely lot from the beautiful coastal town of Folkestone! This is my first time visiting this charming seaside gem, and it’s already exceeding all my expectations! 😍
As a bit of backstory, I've been wanting to visit Folkestone for ages! The colourful history, the vibrant arts scene, the iconic architecture - it all called to me like a siren’s song! And the best part? Well, you guessed it – I managed to book a show here as Pink Tutu Sparkles. Of course, I couldn’t travel to Folkestone without a proper itinerary - my Pink Tutu Adventure itinerary, that is! 😉
My journey started on the trusty old railway – a train journey always seems to give me so much time to reflect, prepare, and most importantly, get my Pink Tutu Sparkle on! As I sat there, sipping my hot tea and snacking on my trusty picnic (can’t forget the pink cake pops! 🍰), my mind was already bursting with ideas for the Folkestone performance. Should I wear the shimmering, candy-pink tutu or the fiery, cherry-red number with the crystal embellishments? Hmm, I have to say the cherry-red one’s been whispering some cheeky things to me. 😏
Upon arriving in Folkestone, the first thing I had to do, obviously, was get myself to the nearest department store for some shopping! A proper pink tutu queen cannot be expected to perform without an array of flamboyant garments, can she? I scooped up a bejewelled fascinator, some fabulous new feather boas (in various shades of pink, naturally), and, oh my gosh, the most breathtaking pair of shoes – a cherry red number with the most delicate butterfly wing detailing! Can you see the theme for tonight's performance yet? 😉
With my outfit sorted, it was time to find myself a proper afternoon tea. Now, I am not just any tea-drinker – I am a self-proclaimed "tutu-tea queen" and I always aim to find the most pink and sparkly tea experience! This time, I found myself at the sweetest little tea shop called “The Rose Tea Room”, nestled in a charming courtyard tucked away in a quiet back street. They served their tea in exquisite china cups, with pretty little delicate floral patterns on the sides! It was delightful!
For a real change of pace, and to stretch out those tutu-tastic legs, I decided to try a ballet class! Ballet is my true passion, a deep-seated love, which began back in my Derbyshire university days. Back then, I was just a shy student called Alex, struggling to make friends with all the science whizz kids (yes, my degree was in textile science, hence my fascination with all things fabulous and fabric!). A year into the course, a student at the university ballet club told me about their upcoming charity fundraising dance event and I was entranced by the idea of twirling around in a sparkly pink tutu! They had a range of gorgeous, soft tutus in their wardrobe, and I was immediately hooked. I knew I had to get myself a proper tutu! There’s something about the graceful flow of a ballerina, the intricate choreography, the passion… It fills me with a pure, unbridled joy. 💖
And I realised that passion, that pure, raw joy is exactly what Pink Tutu Sparkles brings to every performance!
My Folkestone performance, under the glittering lights of "The Grand Palais”, was a smashing success! The audience were a delight! We laughed together, we sang together, we all danced to a vibrant mix of tutu-tastic tunes, with lots of sparkly pink magic!
Now, if you happen to be in Folkestone this week, head on down to the charming and historic "Creative Quarter" of Folkestone and explore all its creative delights! The quaint art galleries and the quirky boutiques offer something for everyone! For those who enjoy the vibrant nightlife of this bustling coastal town, take a stroll along the iconic promenade! There is a thriving social scene to discover with something to keep you entertained!
Well, darlings, it’s time for me to get on the train home, with my head brimming with new ideas and my heart overflowing with happy memories from this glorious Folkestone escapade! Until next time, keep the tutu dreams alive!
P.S. If you’ve never donned a tutu before, give it a try, you won’t regret it! 💋 💖
