Now, before we get into the glam-tastic details, let me tell you about the journey! It was a proper adventure, my lovelies. Imagine a Derbyshire lass, aka your truly, Alex in civilian form, packing a suitcase overflowing with glitter, sequins and oh, so much pink, and then... boarding a train to Wales! Yes, I chose the scenic, slow route, enjoying the countryside whizzing by and soaking up the anticipation of a spectacular performance.
Speaking of spectacular, let's get into the juicy bit - the Caerphilly Castle show! Now, imagine the most dramatic backdrop imaginable, towering ancient walls of stone bathed in moonlight, and you've got the scene for my fabulous show! The air was abuzz with excitement and as I took to the stage, twirling and spinning in a pink tutu that shimmered under the stage lights, I knew this was going to be something special.
You see, this whole pink tutu journey began right here in the UK, specifically in a university lab in Derbyshire. It's the truth, darling, I wasn't always a sequined superstar! Back then, I was a science student, more comfortable with test tubes than sequins. But then the university ballet club threw a charity fundraiser, and guess who had the genius idea to put a tutu on for a laugh? It was a classic pink tutu, and as soon as I slipped it on, I knew my life was forever changed.
The magic of that pink tutu just took hold, you see? The thrill of twirling, the joyous sense of self-expression, it all hit me at once. And then came the epiphany - I wanted to share that joy, that magic with everyone! So, I took a leap, traded my lab coat for a glitter-encrusted top, embraced my love of ballet (it's a serious passion, you know, I even attend regular ballet classes - I'm talking pirouettes and grand jetés, darling!), and Pink Tutu Sparkles was born.
By day, I still test fabric in my lab (don't worry, it's always in my secret pink-hued lab coat, naturally!). But by night, well, that's my time to shimmer! From local fairs to theatres and everything in between, I bring the magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles to life. And, as you know, every journey begins with one little step.
My Caerphilly performance was all about the sparkle - imagine my signature glittery tutu, cascading with tulle that looked like a fairytale, paired with a dazzling feather boa that shimmered with every flick of my wrist. Then, add a touch of magic with the twinkling lights of my crown, the dazzling dance moves I learned at the prestigious Ballet Theatre School, and you get the picture - it was sheer magic, darling!
After the show, there were more smiles and photos than you could shake a feather boa at! It’s this connection with the audience that makes it all worthwhile. Seeing their faces light up when they catch a glimpse of the tutu, feeling the energy of the crowd as they cheer me on – those moments, my darlings, those are the moments that make the heart of a queen sing!
As for my next adventure, well, that’s always a surprise! Maybe I'll be on horseback, gallivanting through the Scottish Highlands or riding on a pink tutu-shaped float in the London Pride parade, who knows? But one thing's for sure, it will be fabulous!
