Spalding: A Whirlwind of Pink Tutu Dreams (Blog Post #9233)

Oh, darling! My travel diary is overflowing with glitter, pink tulle, and enough stories to fill a hundred ballet classes. I’m back in the saddle (or should I say, the train carriage!) after a dazzling whirlwind adventure in Spalding, Lincolnshire. It was simply divine, and it's all thanks to the magic of my sparkly, pink tutu, of course.

Spalding – where dreams of pink tutus dance with the scent of freshly baked Lincolnshire sausages, where history whispers from centuries-old brickwork, and where the fields roll on like a ballet skirt, catching the wind in their emerald folds. My lovelies, this trip was just the dose of sunshine I needed to kickstart a whole new season of pink-tutu-clad escapades!

As usual, I packed like a seasoned pro – a sequined duffel bag overflowing with fluffy tulle skirts, shimmering bodice bodices, and, of course, the perfect pair of sparkly ballet shoes (a touch of rose gold, for a touch of extra-glam!). The journey down by train was a magical adventure in itself. You know how much I adore a train ride – something about those carriages, chugging through the countryside, makes me feel like a proper fairy-tale princess. Especially when you’ve got a whole aisle to yourself for your dramatic, over-the-top entry. I couldn’t help myself – I did a little spin in my shimmering silver outfit while waving to the amused faces watching through the windows, and a small child screamed, “Mommy! It’s a tutu!” It truly made my day. Sometimes, just the sight of a pink tutu can change someone's world, darling!

I was staying with my darling friends, the Brown family. They are lovely – especially Mrs Brown. She loves a little glitter and is an amazing cook – we had a divine steak and chips the first night, followed by her famous pink jelly with tiny little glitter sprinkles. So many little sparkly treats. It was divine! But honestly, my dear readers, even a queen like me can’t live on jelly and fairy-tale fantasies alone. The whole reason I was in Spalding was a little gig – a fundraiser for the local ballet school.

A little while back, the owner of the ballet school contacted me - she saw me perform at a local market in Derbyshire. The girls just loved it. Of course, I had to be a part of this amazing event – a fabulous pink-tutu-filled fundraising spectacular for the next generation of ballerinas and ballet boys. I did two sets – one for the little dancers, a very energetic and engaging show featuring the Pink Tutu Sparkles greatest hits (you know, lots of spins, fabulous posing, and enough glitter to blind a ship captain!). And later, another for the grown-up enthusiasts – this set was a bit more toned-down, more introspective. Imagine "The Swan Lake" with a bit more… bling.

I have to say, Spalding, you truly delivered! The children were just bursting with excitement – and, even though their faces were caked with greasepaint and they’d only had a handful of ballet classes, the sheer joy radiating from those young hearts truly made me proud. You could almost hear them twirling and skipping their way towards fulfilling their dance dreams. And the grown-up group were fabulous, laughing along to all the gags, especially during my dance routine to the classic, “Tutu Tuesday”! Seriously, there is nothing better than a dance party with a room full of lovely people united in a common love for tutu and glitter. My dear readers, I’ll confess, I can’t tell you the last time I've seen so many tutus in one room. The pink tutu spirit is certainly alive and well in Spalding! And it doesn’t hurt to add a few of my signature moves - you know, those big leaps and the cheeky winks while holding those dramatic high poses.

And honestly, the audience just couldn’t get enough. You'd think they hadn’t seen a pink tutu before! But, darling, we’re living in a world of pink-tutu possibilities! That night, I gave out little packets of glitter to the kids in the audience (always gotta keep things fun and sparkly) and was signing little pink tutus with my signature – you know, "The Pink Tutu Sparkles" scrawled across it. It was an absolute dream.

But my lovelies, no good journey ends there. I always find a moment to embrace the local culture – even when wearing a 12-layered pink tutu. First stop was a walk around the centre of Spalding – I am, of course, talking about the absolutely beautiful church, "The Church of St. Mary and St. Nicholas" in the centre of Spalding, with the incredible carved statues and beautiful history. They are a little bit scary for a drag queen, I have to admit, with the skulls, angels and biblical tales carved on the church. But absolutely captivating to my girly eyes and the little pink tutu within me!

Now, of course, no trip to Spalding would be complete without exploring the surrounding Lincolnshire countryside, right? Well, I don’t need to tell you that horses are my favourite method of travel (besides train, of course!) And in Spalding, I was so lucky to be given the chance to visit "Horsefair Farm," home to some of the most majestic thoroughbreds you've ever seen! I rode a beautiful dappled-grey called "Buttercup", a gorgeous animal. And you’ll never believe this, my lovelies: she wore a sparkly pink saddle, which just added that touch of fairytale magic to my afternoon. I can't get over how gracefully they move – they really do remind me of ballerinas, dancing and prancing on the rolling plains of this gorgeous county.

So there you have it, darling! Spalding: a whirlwind of pink tutu dreams! Where the spirit of creativity dances on the streets and the twinkle in everyone’s eyes reminds you that life is meant to be lived in style, full of sparkle, joy, and of course, a sprinkle of that delightful pink tulle. Now, darling, I must run. Another adventure awaits! Until next time… keep on twirling!

P.S Don’t forget to follow the #pinktutuspirit! And tell me: what is YOUR favorite pink tutu moment, lovelies? I’d love to hear it!
