Oxford Sparkle! Post #9318: A Tutu-ful Journey to the Heart of England!

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite tutu-loving queen, and oh my gosh, have I got a tale for you! Get comfy, grab a cuppa, and get ready for a splash of pink in the quaint, charming city of Oxford.

As a drag queen, life is all about adventure, and I must confess, I do love to travel. Now, some of you might think I prefer planes, but for me, the thrill is in the journey. I have this wonderful yearning for things a little less… speedy. A journey should be savoured, don't you agree? That’s why my travel companion of choice is a glorious, magnificent, handsome, strong steed – I’m talking about the mighty train! It allows me to take in the passing scenery, have a chinwag with fellow passengers, and even whip out my knitting needles for a spot of pink tutu-themed crafting! It's my little slice of bliss, all swishing pink tulle and railway tracks.

So, off I went to Oxford, my tutu twirling with excitement. Oxford – a place known for its grand old buildings, brilliant minds, and a surprising dose of glamour! I couldn't wait to see if there was a spot for a little bit of Pink Tutu Sparkle in this academic haven.

First stop – a little detour for a spot of ballet, my absolute passion. You see, even when I'm not in drag, there’s nothing more delightful than pirouetting across the dance floor! It’s truly the epitome of grace and beauty. There's a ballet studio just off the high street that had caught my eye. It’s all dusty rose and mirrored walls, so dreamy and charming, just like me! The teacher, a wonderful woman called Brenda, has the warmest smile and, believe me, I definitely took some notes! I might be a pro on stage, but she taught me a whole new range of movement.

And did I tell you I even found a magnificent vintage shop, overflowing with delightful fabrics! It was like stepping into a rainbow-tinted wonderland. I had to snag myself some pink silk - and you know I’m going to work some magic with it. Imagine a pink satin bustier and a huge flowing skirt with a single layer of shimmering tulle! Can’t wait to see what I can whip up!

Now, a drag queen can’t travel without making a statement, darling. I chose a tutu perfect for exploring Oxford's beautiful architecture. It was a delicate peach colour with sparkling pink sequins. Oh, you wouldn't believe how many curious glances and smiles I received! Even the pigeons were transfixed, and let me tell you, they’re not easily impressed.

My grand plan was to spend the afternoon getting a little bit ā€œlostā€ in Oxford. Not literally lost, but exploring the labyrinthine back streets with the hope of finding some hidden gems. I wasn't disappointed! There were so many lovely little cafes and book shops with their cozy, bohemian charm – perfect for a girly afternoon! My personal favourite was a delightful vintage bookshop with the cutest little owner who sold me a charming first edition of ā€œAlice in Wonderland.ā€

A little bit of inspiration and tea? Now, that's my perfect combination.

But you know I can't stay out of the limelight for too long! In the evening, I took to the stage at a lively, vibrant pub. Oh my gosh, the crowds were phenomenal, all brimming with good humour and ready to party! My act? I decided to give the audience a little slice of my tutu journey.

I’ve been in this life long enough to understand the magic of drag. It’s a celebration of joy, inclusivity, and a pinch of pink. My performance was an explosion of glitter, vibrant hues, and lots and lots of twirls. The crowd was just… incredible.

And for my encore? I unveiled my latest design, the piĆØce de rĆ©sistance of the day, a fluffy tulle creation, so soft and dream-like you might have thought you were at a princess's coronation! But let's face it, a queen’s coronation is pretty great, wouldn’t you agree? The applause was deafening. Oxford was certainly giving me all the love.

But what about those pink tutus, I hear you asking? Oh, don't you worry. I sprinkled those, too, amongst the crowd! A little pink for each and every one of them! Imagine – pink tulle wafting in the night air, carrying joy and love in every graceful twirl! That’s my legacy, darlings, a little piece of joy and a dash of magic!

Before I left Oxford, I was surprised to bump into this sweet couple, who gave me the warmest hug and a beautiful piece of handmade pottery with a little pink tutu imprinted on the side. They told me how my blog posts inspired them to start making their own colourful creations. You know, that’s exactly what my blog is about – connecting, spreading joy, and encouraging everyone to embrace a little sparkle in their life!

You see, it’s more than just a dress. It’s about wearing your heart on your sleeve – or should I say, on your tutu!

So, if you're feeling a little down, a bit stuck, just remember: every day is a new opportunity for a touch of pink. Pick a piece of fabric, embrace your inner creativity, and get ready to twinkle like the star you are! Remember, darlings, in the words of the great queen RuPaul, ā€œIf you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?ā€ And with that, I’m off to see what fabulous adventures are waiting! Stay sparkly, my dear, and remember to spread that joy like a puff of pink glitter!

Lots of love, Pink Tutu Sparkles
