Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the gorgeous Gateshead! It's a new day, a new city, and of course, a new pink tutu. Did I mention I'm absolutely obsessed with tutus? Especially the pink ones!
Today's ensemble is a confection of shimmering, bubblegum pink tulle, adorned with a cascade of iridescent sequins that would make a disco ball jealous. The matching feather boa is adding a touch of whimsical drama, and let's not forget the giant, fluffy pink bow that sits proudly on top of my perfectly coiffed, gravity-defying beehive.
Now, I'm not just here to parade around in a pink tutu, though that's certainly a highlight! No, my dear friends, I'm here to bring a bit of glitter and sparkle to Gateshead. It's such a vibrant city with a fascinating history. The Angel of the North – have you seen it?! Such a striking, awe-inspiring piece of art. And then there's the Quayside, bustling with life and with views that are simply breathtaking.
I love discovering hidden gems like this, exploring the quaint alleyways and independent boutiques tucked away in this wonderful city. It reminds me so much of Derby, where I'm from. We might be miles apart but, in my heart, we’re two cities sharing a love for the unexpected!
And what's a journey without a little indulgence? This morning, I treated myself to a delicious "high tea" at one of Gateshead’s quaint cafes. Tea, pastries, and finger sandwiches – what could be more divine? All while rocking my pink tutu, of course! (Spoiler: I ended up getting a tiny bit of jam on my tulle. Thankfully, my sparkling personality still shone through! 😉)
Tonight, the real magic begins – my drag performance! You're invited, my darlings. Come and join me at the Gateshead Empire, a magnificent venue steeped in theatrical history. Prepare for a showstopping performance that will be filled with singing, dancing, and yes, lots and lots of pink! And if you see a sassy, sparkly queen who happens to be dressed in a most flattering shade of pink, that's probably me!
Speaking of tutus, you'd be surprised how much of a journey I've had getting here! I started my day in a lab, surrounded by beakers and bubbling chemicals, analysing fabrics. Yup, by day I’m a scientist in the fabric industry, and it's actually quite a fun job! Sometimes I even find inspiration for my pink tutu designs from the incredible textures and colours I'm working with.
I love being able to balance my analytical scientist side with my artistic drag queen persona. They both bring joy into my life, and let's be honest, being able to express yourself creatively is incredibly liberating. I also adore exploring all that the UK has to offer, seeing every city, meeting wonderful new people, and sharing my love for pink tutus with the world!

P.S. My favourite part of any trip is always the train ride. You can get the most amazing views! Did you know you can actually find vintage carriage trains that still have charming luggage racks? (And it’s absolutely fabulous to dress up for a train trip, by the way!) This time, I’m tempted to arrive in Gateshead riding on horseback, you know, to really get that princess vibes. Think a royal parade, except it’s just me, in my pink tutu, waving to passersby! I’ll let you know how that goes... 😉
