Salford Sparkle!

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, signing in live from the fabulous city of Salford, and it’s time for blog post number 9339! (Who would have thought I'd get this far? Me, the little Derbyshire lad who used to hide in the library during break time to sneak a peak at ballet books… oh how the tables have turned!).

This week, the Tutu Queen has embarked on a gloriously glamorous journey - all aboard the train to Salford! My pink tutu was positively bursting with excitement as I hopped on, all ready for an enchanting adventure. Speaking of trains, do any of you darling divas ever feel like your whole being is transported to a magical realm the moment those wheels start turning? My goodness, I simply adore a good train ride – it’s the perfect blend of comfort and anticipation, like the beginning of a beautiful ballet!

But first, let's delve into the fabulousity of my current attire. Oh, it's quite a sight, dears! You see, my darling tutu isn't just any tutu, it’s a custom-made masterpiece. This one shimmers in a breathtaking shade of flamingo pink, complete with layers of delicate tulle, and a cascade of hand-sewn sequins that could make a disco ball blush. It's just divine! You wouldn’t believe the adventures this little pink confection has seen, it’s basically been my co-pilot for all the fun – even when I got caught in a downpour during my performance in the Edinburgh Fringe (a memory that made me want to unleash my inner Mariah Carey – but with glitter!)

Speaking of glitter, Salford has been sparkling like a gemstone under the summer sun. I arrived on Tuesday, just in time to pop into a little independent shop called 'The Tutu Emporium' – heaven! I must have tried on a dozen pink tutus in every shade, and guess what? I found a gorgeous one that’s practically begging to be featured in my next performance! I swear, I might just give up science altogether and become a tutu shop assistant - the scent of fresh tulle could just make me happy for eternity!

But it wasn’t just about shopping, oh no, this adventure was all about the culture, the excitement, and of course, the music! On Wednesday evening, I was lucky enough to snag tickets for the world-renowned ‘Northern Ballet’ - such elegant movements, and their pink costumes? They would have made even a hardened tututastic diva like me weep with joy! I just adore the feeling of seeing such pure talent and artistic beauty on stage – it leaves my heart soaring higher than the highest pirouette!

But there was more in store for me, oh yes. After my evening with the ballet, I made my way to the Salford Arts Festival. There were street performers, artists displaying their incredible work, and an atmosphere that just pulsated with creativity. Even my hair extensions seemed to be dancing to the rhythm of the festivities. There was this one street performer – I think he was playing the accordion – wearing the most wonderful sparkly vest. It reminded me of a gigantic pink cupcake and his playing was like music to my sparkly soul. I immediately rushed over to buy him a cup of tea!

Now, about my little side hustle – did you know that I love, love, LOVE a fair? The hustle and bustle of it all, the tantalizing scents of candy floss and the sweet thrill of trying my luck at a ring toss? Oh darling, it’s enough to set my heart aflutter! Of course, my Pink Tutu Sparkles act isn’t a stranger to the festival circuit, it’s been a highlight of many of my trips. The fun I've had belting out Broadway tunes to cheering crowds in all kinds of glorious venues.

Last night, I decided to put on my own impromptu “Pink Tutu Extravaganza!” at a small pub called “The Jolly Roger” (an oddly appropriate name considering I’ve just found myself an incredibly fabulous pirate themed tutu, which will feature in my next post - look out, you landlubbers!). My performance went down a storm – it was a little different from the high-brow elegance of the ballet (the bar was a bit rough, even my glitter ended up in the pub landlord's beard) but it was hilarious! I taught the entire crowd to dance like a tutu-wearing ballet dancer, I had to bribe them with sweets but the smiles on their faces made it so worth it!

You know what, my dearest darlings, life is an absolute dream! Wearing pink, traveling the world (especially when it’s via a majestic steed), inspiring people to twirl, spreading joy with a pink tutu, what else could I ask for? The answer is nothing, because honestly, being Pink Tutu Sparkles makes me the happiest girl (or should I say diva) alive!

If you haven’t been rocking a pink tutu yet – what are you waiting for?! Do it. Twirl. Dance. Spread the pink love and join me in celebrating the power of a tutu. Because we all need a little pink in our lives, and a lot of glitter!

Until next time my little sparkles,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xoxo
