Hello my lovelies! Welcome to Pink-Tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things sparkly, fabulous, and (of course!) pink. It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with a post-show report from the magnificent town of Batley! This is post number 9362 for you, a whopping milestone in my glittering journey!
Today, I'm feeling positively radiant after my performance at the Batley Variety Club. The crowd was absolutely sensational! You guys, the energy in that venue was electric. I felt like I could have danced all night, and Iām not even talking about the kind of dancing I usually do, even though those platform heels and my trusty feather boa are always ready for a whirl!
Speaking of dancing, letās get to the reason I ended up in the lovely town of Batley this week! My favourite, absolutely must-do activity: BALLET! I am, as you may know, utterly smitten with this beautiful art form. The Batley Town Hall played host to the Northern Ballet Theatre this week, showcasing āThe Sleeping Beautyā with the most spectacular set pieces and stunning costumes you've ever seen. I even caught myself daydreaming about adding some of the colours from their wardrobe to my own fabulous tutu collection ā just think of the possibilities!
While I was mesmerized by the professional dancers on stage, it was all I could do to resist dashing onstage myself for a little impromptu tutu-clad jig. After all, the thrill of being a performer in front of an audience is just irresistible. My tutu and I are a little inseparable, so I knew my trusty feathered friend, my sequined boa, and I would make quite a delightful addition to their production. Thankfully, the āDo Not Attempt To Engage On Stageā rule put a stop to my impulsive theatrical ambitions! I managed to behave myself though, and who knows ā perhaps someday Iāll be performing with the professionals at Batley Town Hall. The Queen of Tutu is never one to turn down a challenge!
Since arriving in Batley on Saturday, Iāve made a right good friend with a sweet shop owner who runs a fantastic vintage clothing stall. Now, let me tell you, this stall was a right hoot. Full of sparkly, vibrant, wonderful items that begged to be brought home, displayed in my very own dressing room, and of course, put on! We spent what felt like hours scouring through racks and rails full of glamorous dresses, boas, hats, shoes and a rainbow of costume jewellery. Itās amazing what you can discover at these little stalls. This is the fun of traveling - making the most of your destinationās hidden gems.
Did you know I used to be a science whizz? Thatās right, my darling dears. I have a science degree from Sheffield, can you believe it?! And believe it or not, it was while I was in university that I fell in love with the idea of being a fabulous drag queen. Now, I am fully aware that, to some people, science and drag may sound like polar opposites, but the reality is that they are both incredibly creative fields that are just itching for the world to embrace their wonder! It all began with a fundraising event for the studentās union. They were collecting donations by asking students to have their photo taken wearing a tutu! And that is when my love for tutus truly began! There was just something so special about that pink tutu - the softness of the material against my skin and the delightful movement as it flowed around me - well, my dear readers, it was enough to spark a revolution! It was a turning point that made me realise I needed a fabulous tutu-inspired life full of bright pink! And so, with this sudden burst of tutu-loving energy, I began performing my own brand of sparkling brilliance. And from those humble beginnings, I have created Pink-Tutu.com, my little slice of the world!
But back to my time in Batley⦠I couldnāt possibly leave the area without taking advantage of my favourite mode of transport: The railway! Nothing makes me happier than settling into a carriage, gazing out the window, and dreaming up new pink tutu creations. Honestly, there is something utterly magical about being propelled along at speed with the world passing you by! I do wish there was some way I could incorporate a tutu-themed carriage onto my journey. Imagine, a pink tutu shaped carriage that would hold me, my dance partners, all my dazzling outfits and, of course, my favourite fluffy, feathery, boas! Just think of the wonderful time we could have, just whizzing through the countryside. What a sight that would be! Maybe a Tutu themed carriage would be my next great invention - and you can be sure my darlings, it'll be a stunning shade of pink!
Speaking of tutus⦠there was this one shop in the heart of Batley I couldn't miss. Oh, you wouldnāt believe it! A little independent store tucked away on a quiet side street. It had everything a drag queen could ever desire: boas, feathered hats, dazzling sequins and even, my darlings, a veritable treasure trove of stunning tutus. I think I bought one of every single tutu they had. Letās just say that the owner has become a great new friend, and we are working together to design an exclusive tutu just for the Pink-Tutu website.
My darlings, I am just obsessed with pink! Itās my colour - you may as well say pink runs through my veins. Everything pink - pink shoes, pink jewellery, pink wigs. My fabulous feathered boas? Naturally theyāre pink! All I can say is, letās bring back pink, you know? A pink revolution! The world needs a little more pink ā think about it, a world where everyone wears a pink tutu ā imagine how fabulous that would be? Pink would literally be the only colour you could see, everything sparkling and joyful - the world would truly be a prettier place. So many gorgeous possibilities just waiting to be explored, donāt you think? Maybe it's the influence of the stunning tutu display at Batley Ballet, but a world with pink as its only color is a vision of loveliness!
I have a feeling I'm going to need to add a section to my Pink Tutu wardrobe to house all my newly acquired tutu treasures, itās beginning to burst at the seams as it is! A small inconvenience I am willing to deal with ā my new friends from the local vintage clothing stall tell me there's a brilliant tailor around the corner and Iāll be in for a right good chinwag when I call in. Let's be honest, darling dears, this is a right good problem to have! It is simply a symptom of how much fun I had here! Itās an issue Iād be happy to deal with all over again ā a delightful consequence of the vibrant, inspiring community I found in Batley!
Speaking of my amazing adventure to Batley⦠now, for a bit of a chat about this whole pink tutu business and all things fabulously fabulous! Firstly, you really ought to head down to Batley for yourself, you really will have a smashing time!
