Now, I wouldn't be true to my pink-loving heart if I didn't mention the journey. As much as I adore the glamour of the stage, I find pure joy in the thrill of travel. This time, I took the train, winding my way through the English countryside. The scenery is always a feast for the eyes, particularly when I'm adorned in my favourite shade of pink – just think, a vibrant fuchsia top and a tulle skirt so soft it feels like a gentle breeze!
For those who haven't been, Brixton is a buzzing hub of energy and creativity, a place where music fills the air and every street corner bursts with vibrant colour. And what's more fitting for this electric atmosphere than a shimmering, pink tulle tutu? It's a beacon of happiness, a celebration of self-expression, and quite honestly, it makes me feel like I could fly!
My Brixton performance was at a local fair, tucked away in a little courtyard with string lights twinkling overhead. As soon as the music started, I knew I was in my element. The crowd was buzzing, they were captivated by the pink spectacle that is me. The music swirled, my pink tulle flowed, and everyone just seemed to lose themselves in the joy of the moment.
Remember how I told you about the tutu's ability to make you feel like you could fly? Well, in Brixton, it really did feel like that! I was bouncing, twirling, and shimmying my way through the night, every twirl a little more confident, every twirl a reminder of the power of pink. It was magic!
As a performer, one of the most rewarding things is the genuine connection you make with the audience. Seeing those faces light up, seeing those smiles, that’s what it’s all about. After my set, there was a little girl who wouldn't stop talking about my tutu. It melted my heart. "When I grow up, I want to be a pink tutu queen too!" she exclaimed. And that’s when I realised – this isn’t just about my passion for pink, it’s about inspiring others. It's about reminding everyone to embrace their unique individuality and shine like a star. Because darling, we all have a little sparkle inside us, just waiting to be unleashed!
Of course, my adventure didn't stop there! My trip to Brixton also included a ballet class. My passion for the dance extends beyond the stage! There’s something so wonderfully graceful and powerful about ballet, it brings a sense of stillness and focus amidst the chaos. It’s a beautiful world, filled with grace and elegant moves, and as a drag artist, it always informs my performances.
And who can resist a bit of retail therapy? While in London, I just had to visit my favourite vintage store on Carnaby Street, just brimming with shimmering sequins, feather boas, and oh-so-many tulle possibilities. Let’s just say, my wardrobe is feeling a whole lot pinker after this visit.
Speaking of wardrobes, I do love my tutus, but I wouldn't be a true fashion queen without exploring different styles. Sometimes I prefer a bolder look, a fiery red or a sparkling emerald green. But at the end of the day, it always comes back to the power of pink. Pink, to me, is not just a colour; it’s an attitude! It’s a declaration of confidence, a reminder to stay true to yourself, and always, always, shine your own light.
