This journey started in the usual way: a quick train ride (oh how I love a good train journey - something about the clattering rhythm makes my creative juices flow!). I confess I even managed to squeeze in a cheeky dance on the carriage. After all, you can never be too glamorous for a train trip, especially when your pink tulle tutu is flowing in the breeze!
Royal Tunbridge Wells, what a jewel you are! From the moment I stepped out of the station, I felt a sense of pure wonder. It was like stepping into a picture book, complete with manicured gardens, delightful little shops, and buildings painted in colours as bold and bright as my very own collection of tutus.
This week's drag act wasn't your usual fairground gig, oh no! This was something special - an evening of performance art for a fundraiser at the lovely Tunbridge Wells Ballet School. My heart practically did a triple pirouette when I found out! It felt like destiny! I just knew this was going to be an evening that wouldn't soon be forgotten.
I spent the afternoon in the most delightful dress shop you can imagine, surrounded by all things sparkly and fabulous. It's no surprise that I emerged with enough sequins to outfit a small chorus line! I picked out the most stunning hot pink number, all ruffles and frills - a perfect homage to the very colour that first ignited my pink tutu love affair!
I had the most delightful tea at the prettiest little cafe - all pastel colours and flower arrangements - feeling incredibly regal, just like a true pink tutu queen should! I had time for a delightful browse through a local antique shop, coming across the most gorgeous collection of vintage ballet shoes, some even in perfect condition! I practically begged the owner to sell me a few pairs, and she kindly let me buy a couple of delicate pointe shoes - a future souvenir for my precious Pink Tutu collection!
As the evening descended, I got myself all dolled up in my meticulously chosen outfit and, with a heart full of anticipation, walked towards the school's dance studio. A sense of overwhelming joy flooded me when I saw the beautiful ballet space. It was an ode to graceful artistry, lit with fairy lights that transformed it into an enchanting scene straight out of a dreamscape.
The little dancers, with their twinkling eyes and delicate tutus, were mesmerized by my transformation. There I was, Pink Tutu Sparkles, shining like a star as I glided through the studio in my bright pink attire. The whole place pulsed with a joyous energy, a feeling of community and shared love for the art of dance, with a healthy sprinkle of pure glitter and a dash of pink tutu magic!
We shared a fun performance that incorporated a bit of theatricality, some ballet inspired movements, and, of course, some wonderfully ridiculous, flamboyant tutus-led dance steps, all infused with my infectious sense of pink tutu joy.

I couldn’t leave the beautiful Tunbridge Wells without a ballet lesson with the most lovely professional ballerinas. It was divine - an opportunity for me to reawaken my inner dancer! Turns out, I still had a few pirouettes in me! My Tutu Dreams, indeed!
A short trip into London followed, because, you see, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a trip to a wonderful London show, in my dazzling pink tutu.

Speaking of London, I'll tell you a secret, I do have a rather unusual daytime persona - a regular science girl! I'm Alex, an actual fabric analyst by day! My daytime work is a curious juxtaposition to my nocturnal escapades. Testing the tensile strength and composition of various materials isn't exactly glitter and feather boas, is it? Yet, there's a strangely fitting symmetry there. I think the fabric analysis lab is my pink tutu world, just a different, colour and more muted form of magic, it's the perfect blend of my science mind and creative side.
Honestly, I just have to chuckle sometimes. How on earth does a girl from Derbyshire who, years ago, went for a rather ordinary day at a Derbyshire school with dreams of a science career become the glamorous pink tutu sensation she is now!
It all started back at the university. It was my second year at uni and, after falling for the drama of the uni's ballet club, I got dragged into helping the students put on a fundraising show - that was the turning point for me, I have to say. The charity shop tutu was just a tiny spark in those early years. But the feeling, the sheer joy that hit me - that's how I found the first step onto my sparkly road to success. And guess what? I've worn that very same pink tutu at least a hundred times, although it looks a little different these days, a bit of extra sequins, some extra sparkles! It still gets brought out at special occasions, because you see, darling, this is how it all began. I'm so glad I took that one step and decided to wear the tutu - a magical spark and the birth of the Pink Tutu Queen!
Being Pink Tutu Sparkles is a delightful challenge and a wild, unforgettable ride, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I spend my time spreading the pink tutu joy across the land - all with a big smile on my face, a touch of magic in my steps, and, of course, the most glamorous tutu you’ve ever seen!
