Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with post number 9685! Get ready for another sparkly adventure, because I'm whisking you all away to the beautiful, historic town of Rowley Regis in the West Midlands!
The train journey was pure bliss - nothing beats watching the countryside zip by from a window seat while rocking my latest pink tulle creation, complete with strategically placed diamanté! As usual, I caused quite the stir amongst the commuters with my bright pink, feathered boa trailing behind me, but honestly, darling, it’s all part of the show!
From Lab Coats to Spotlight:
You know how I always say my day job as a fabric scientist keeps me grounded? Well, it's true! It's funny how life can take such unexpected turns. Who would have thought a science geek like myself would be twirling in tutus by night? But when I accidentally put on a tutu for a university charity event and felt the sheer joy of it, I knew I had to embrace this whimsical side of my personality. I love experimenting with textures, colours, and finishes in the lab – but then taking all that inspiration and translating it into my drag is pure magic!
Tutu Adventures in Rowley Regis:
I've been dying to visit Rowley Regis for ages! It's known for its beautiful black country architecture, its industrial heritage, and, most importantly, its incredible art scene. I made a beeline straight to the Rowley Regis Arts Centre – a hidden gem that is buzzing with creativity. I was completely mesmerized by their latest exhibition of contemporary textile art. Talk about an explosion of colours, patterns, and textures!
Naturally, I couldn't resist trying on some of their fabulous hats and vintage clothes! I absolutely loved their quirky vintage dress shop – perfect for picking up some costume pieces for my next performance!
Finding My Ballet Bliss:
I am absolutely mad about ballet. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of swirling on a stage, my tulle dancing around me. While I may not have ended up a prima ballerina, my love for the art form has blossomed in a way I never imagined.
One of the highlights of my trip was taking a ballet class at the Rowley Regis Dance Academy! I was so inspired by the talented young dancers, who were absolutely fearless in their movement. I can't tell you how much fun I had twirling and pirouette-ing alongside them - even with my flamboyant Tutu Queen style!
The highlight of the day? I actually managed to get the entire class to join me for a spontaneous rendition of “Swan Lake” – all dressed in my signature pink tulle! It was pure joy!
A Dinner and Show with a View:
Dinner and a show? That's always my kind of evening!
Rowley Regis boasts some truly fantastic restaurants and I had the best steak pie in the charming Rowley Regis Market. You wouldn't believe the stunning views! Imagine, a juicy steak pie and my shimmering, sequined Tutu Queen costume under a tapestry of twinkling night lights!
Of course, no trip is complete without a show, so I put on a fabulous drag performance at the Rowley Regis Working Men's Club! The locals were incredibly welcoming, and it was wonderful to spread some joy, sparkle, and laughter in such a warm and inviting atmosphere.
My Rowley Regis Reflection:
It's incredible how a small town can have such big heart. Rowley Regis welcomed me with open arms, and I left feeling utterly charmed. I was reminded of why I love travelling – the chance to meet new people, share my passion for performance, and discover new corners of the world, all while sporting my trusty pink tutu.
