Yes, my dears, I know what you're thinking. Catford?! A bit unexpected, isn't it? Well, I’m not afraid of a bit of the unconventional, darling! I’ve got an insatiable curiosity for life, and a travel schedule crammed with as many towns and cities as possible. So, a little hop to South London, nestled in the heart of charming Greenwich, seemed like the perfect place to get my sequins shimmering! ✨
As you all know, the Pink Tutu Sparkles show goes on, regardless of location! The world, in all its glorious, eclectic diversity, is my stage, and darling, the show just gets bigger and brighter with every city I explore! So, strap in your glitter heels, pop on your pinkest tutu (or heck, any tutu!), and let’s make this journey a fabulous one!
A Blast from the Past! ?
It wasn't a stagecoach pulling up to the station, but an actual horse drawn carriage! My friends at the station were lovely enough to help me pack my (somewhat heavy) suitcase filled with glittering pink fabric and, yes, more tutus, onto the carriage.
Can you believe this darling? Horses in Catford, imagine the possibilities! For my travels, nothing quite compares to the romantic air of a horse-drawn carriage, and oh, that smell of hay and leather! It's positively intoxicating!
And did I tell you about my gorgeous vintage hat box I used for my make up? So divine, darling. My darling Mum, bless her heart, got it from an antique shop down in Derbyshire – that’s where my love of pink and tutus began, you know. We both thought it would be fun, she bought me the tutu for a charity fundraiser. I had been performing for the university ballet club, and I've never looked back! ✨
First Impressions Count! ✨
Stepping into Catford felt like stepping back in time! A true charm in every nook and cranny. I am smitten, my dears. As I pirouetted onto the cobblestone streets, I knew I had found a home away from home, a place ready to embrace the pink-tastic dreams of this fabulously sassy, tutu-wearing, sequin-clad queen. ?
With my darling driver’s helpful tip about the local "Catz Cafe”, it was the first pitstop. You have to love a coffee stop that embraces colour and sprinkles, especially when it's serving fabulous pink, glitter latte art! And with an entire pink-tutu-clad-queen's wardrobe to accessorise, I had to indulge! ?
Tutu Talk! ?
Now, Catford's heart belongs to its arts and theatre scene. Darling, I just had to get my dance shoes on! This town pulsates with the energy of art. And with its lively spirit, I had to take a peek at the The Albany Theatre, a historic beauty! Imagine, darlings! A beautiful Victorian-era gem bursting with passion and performances. Just my kind of stage!
Speaking of stage, my darlings, a good dance session is non-negotiable, so you'll find me at The Ballet Club tomorrow, I even found a few other like-minded tutu enthusiasts! Let's talk a little ballet talk – for all you lovely ladies and gentlemen, there's a reason the ballet draws you in, my dears. The grace, the strength, the stories it tells, all interwoven with the power of a pirouette or a pas de bourree! Oh, to spin and leap and create art with every flick of a foot! The ballet is where my heart truly soars. ?
And wouldn't you know, I even ran into a lovely bunch of street performers doing ballet in the park! Absolutely fabulously skilled and they gave me a fantastic twirl lesson. And don't think that the talent is lost on the young ones here in Catford. This place just vibrates with a youthful enthusiasm for the arts. This really is my kind of town. ?
Pink and Beyond! ?
Now, a girl's gotta indulge, right? Shopping's a necessary part of life when you have a wardrobe brimming with bright pinks, sparkling sequins, and even more sparkling tutus. Luckily for me, Catford's high street is a wonderland. It felt like a rainbow explosion – so many colors and treasures just waiting to be discovered! ?
I had a ball exploring independent shops filled with unique finds. Darling, the local designers and artisans – they are truly creating a magic that's just bursting with charm and style. Just imagine, darling: pink and white polka-dot tutus, bright coral earrings that catch the light – every little trinket is a precious, shimmering spark of creativity. ?
Catford is the perfect blend of traditional and modern, and this eclectic mix reflects the beautiful rainbow of talents in this delightful area. Darling, this place deserves its own musical, you just wait for that pink and fluffy tutu ensemble! ?
