Fleet, You’re So Fly! ??✨ (Blog Post #9708)

Hey darlings! It’s your fave tutu-wearing, pink-loving queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and I’m here to dish all about my whirlwind trip to Fleet! You know, this little town in Hampshire had been calling to me, whispering sweet, ballet-filled nothings in my ear, ever since I discovered it was home to the wonderful Fleet Ballet School.

It’s hard to believe it's only been a week since I donned my latest creation – a dazzling hot pink tutu with shimmering sequins and layers upon layers of tulle! The whole outfit, as you can imagine, was a glorious explosion of fuchsia and bubblegum hues, complete with matching feather boas and a pair of dazzling pink platform boots. Talk about making a grand entrance!

Fleet Station greeted me with its Victorian charm – just the kind of quaint and historical backdrop to get my creative juices flowing. The sound of the train pulling into the station made my tutu dance, as if it were applauding my arrival! You can't beat the excitement of arriving in a new town by train, the whole journey was a bit of a theatrical adventure – I’m telling you, those carriages just inspire such grand dramatics!

I made a beeline for the Fleet Ballet School – a stunningly beautiful building in a pastel shade of blush pink! Yes, my heart did a little flutter when I saw the facade. The pink was simply too good! The exterior of the school screamed "fairy tale!" with its charming brickwork and delightful gables.

The first thing that caught my eye when I walked in was the enormous mirror at the end of the hall. I had to resist the temptation to strike a pose! Oh, to have that whole space just for me! The floors, oh those floors! Glistening with the sheen of polished wood, just like the floor of the London Palladium where I recently performed.

That's right, my darlings! A drag queen's got to know her way around a theatre stage, and it doesn’t get more prestigious than that, especially with all those gorgeous people, dressed up to the nines. Oh! You know how much I love getting glammed up!

Before the lesson even started, I was already a giggling mess. The little dancers – they were so enthusiastic and excited! They already had more sass and spunk than some of the seasoned professionals I’ve seen! Their eager faces filled me with a wave of nostalgia. Those early years of ballet… so full of boundless energy and youthful glee! They were pure magic, the little darlings! I just had to give them some of my pink sparkle. And what better way than a impromptu ballet-inspired performance for all the students at Fleet Ballet School?

Let me tell you, I put on a real show for them. A fabulous pink tulle extravaganza – complete with pirouettes, fouetté turns, and of course, my signature death drop – just for my adorable little dance enthusiasts! (I swear I saw them take some sneaky little notes – oh the future is bright!) It wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu Sparkles performance without a sprinkle of sparkle, so I left each little ballerina a little pink gift – a tutu-themed sequin broach – a sweet reminder that they can do anything they set their minds to! I couldn't resist popping into the shop after the performance – my wallet and willpower are eternally in conflict. And I’m not ashamed to admit that I had a mini-breakdown in the ballet supplies section! All the cute tutus, leg warmers and leotards... Oh my god, they were just so delightful! The gorgeous purple ballet shoes caught my eye - I am going to buy them for my next drag act. My pink-loving heart went absolutely bonkers, you just don’t understand!

One thing about a ballet trip: there’s got to be some gorgeous pink refreshments. Now, a drag queen never misses an opportunity for a good old-fashioned pink feast – the more pastel pink, the better! Fortunately, Fleet, you’ve got this covered! Just around the corner from the ballet school was this delightful little cafe, called ‘Pink Cupcakes’… it really felt like I'd stumbled into a pink haven. It was like a whole menu had been dedicated to celebrating my favourite colour, and that's always a winning formula in my book. Every delicious bite – from pink lemonade to cupcakes – tasted like sheer bliss. It's truly a divine delight to indulge in deliciousness that’s pink, it's like a colour that speaks directly to my soul!

In the afternoon, I strolled through Fleet's charming high street, my hot pink ensemble bouncing merrily with every step! It’s just not the same doing a catwalk stroll through my local Derbyshire village! There is a definite style in these more upmarket towns – lots of bright pinks and sunshine yellow - and people here look like they could be a model from Vogue magazine! There are some seriously stunning fashions here in Fleet – let’s just say they take their clothes seriously, darlings. This made for a fabulous show – lots of inspiration for my next drag creation!

Fleet town, with all its gorgeous pastel facades and manicured flower beds, really felt like it stepped straight out of a vintage fairytale. Every shop window sparkled like a jewel box, beckoning me in to feast my eyes on its vibrant contents.

There’s nothing like window shopping for a tutu-loving girl on a journey! I even got the most darling photograph in front of Fleet’s ancient town hall - that majestic pink-and-grey building had the most magical aura around it - it was truly stunning! It was like the setting for a fantastical dream! The photo was taken by a lovely local lady - I must remember to go back to Fleet again - I can imagine myself sitting with a tea and cake in this lady's company - oh the gossips! Oh, I do love getting my glam on with my lovely fellow queens - in Derbyshire we call them 'ladies'. We’ve even formed a club called The Tutu Club, which encourages other queens to step out of their comfort zone – the point of the Tutu Club is to celebrate every aspect of who you are! We gather together once a month in our local Derbyshire village for themed events and parties. So far this year we have celebrated everything pink, and are already working on the tutu designs for the next themed event. But now, it was time for my last bit of fun in Fleet. I needed a ride back to the station in true royal style - what other mode of transport for a princess on the move than a horse-drawn carriage? You’ll never believe the fun I had, dashing around Fleet with a lovely group of well-behaved and handsome horses, their harnesses and tails looking magnificently dapper. There I was – in my pink tutu – a vision in a carriage – every head in the street stopped to watch! The carriage took me past all the charming local sights – the quaint local shops, and of course, Fleet’s iconic landmark – the stunningly graceful St. Paul’s church. Fleet’s rich historical past was quite clear as I went past the little lanes, they oozed character! My trip was really starting to remind me of a fairy tale – this place was so delightfully unique!

With the gorgeous sunset setting behind the church - those dramatic colours made it an excellent backdrop! – I knew my day in Fleet had reached its epic finale. It was now time for me to depart, a vision of pink glitter and glamour! But hey, you know Pink Tutu Sparkles - she always leaves a lasting impression - so my goodbye was something special! Fleet Ballet School, darling - you truly lived up to all my expectations, but I had to give the school a little something to say 'thank you', something unforgettable - you guessed it! I performed one last, super special tutu performance! All the girls came running out of their ballet classes and lined up around the dance studio as I whirled and swirled in my hot pink ensemble! That’s the true magic of a tutu. It captures imaginations, makes dreams take flight, and turns every occasion into something unforgettable!

Fleet, it’s been absolutely unforgettable! From the heart of the charming high street to the enchanting ballet studio – every moment I spent in this enchanting little corner of Hampshire felt like a whimsical dance of joy and colour. And who knows? Maybe my journey through Fleet was the first step in making the entire world go pink, and I, the ultimate Queen of all things tulle, will see all you wonderful humans embracing this fabulous and vibrant world of pink! Until next time darlings… #pinkpower!
