Hey loves! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing, drag queen blogger! Get ready for another fabulous post because guess what? I'm on the road again, and this time, I'm headed to Bebington!
It's not often you see a drag queen strutting through the countryside on a train, but I'm a firm believer in the charm of a good train journey. The rhythmic clatter of the tracks, the gentle sway of the carriages, it's all so romantic! Plus, the window seat offers the perfect opportunity for me to admire the scenery whilst I apply my make-up and meticulously curl my iconic pink wig! Oh, and don't even get me started on the amazing people I meet on these train adventures - always a colourful bunch of characters, just like me!
Speaking of characters, let's talk about the destination itself - Bebington! This beautiful little town nestled in the heart of the Wirral is a gem just waiting to be discovered. It has a fantastic history, a bustling market square, and more tea rooms than you could shake a pink tutu at. Honestly, the place screams "tutu-friendly" and that’s exactly what I need!
The whole point of these travel blogs is to inspire you to go out there and embrace the beauty and the joy of life. My aim, my ultimate goal, is to get everyone in the world wearing a pink tutu! And yes, that does mean you! But you know me, I never just tell you to do something, I actually show you how. So, before we head to Bebington, let's talk about getting there!
My journey from Derbyshire
For this trip, I'm going old school - a trusty train journey! Now, I know you might think, "Why not hop on a bus, Alex? It's quicker!" But let me tell you, darling, it's about more than just getting there, it's about the whole experience. I'm all about taking my time, savouring every moment, and, of course, showcasing a dazzling ensemble! This journey requires my full pink glittery outfit! My dazzling sequined jacket that practically sparkles in daylight, my custom-made pink tulle skirt, and of course, a custom-made glittery pink tutu with a massive pink bow that I picked up in a vintage shop on one of my previous travels! Plus, my comfy travel flats. My trusty high heels are lovely for performance nights, but I’ll be hopping on and off the train a lot on this trip, and comfy flats are the best!
Why Bebington?
So why am I in Bebington this time, you ask? Well, it's a double whammy! First and foremost, Bebington is known for its fantastic community theatre scene, and that is right up my street! I love sharing the joy of drag, so a performance for a local theatre group just makes my sparkly heart sing! I’ve just received word of a local community production, and I can’t wait to bring some pink-tastic sparkles to the show!
Then, of course, it's the fabulous annual Bebington Craft and Fair that's on! You already know that I have a massive penchant for all things sparkly, crafty, and quirky - and Bebington has all three! I've heard there are going to be some amazing artisans showcasing their handmade goods, and I just know I'll be adding to my fabulous collection!
Adventures in Bebington!
But my time in Bebington won't just be spent dazzling the stage and rummaging through crafts stalls. I plan to experience all that Bebington has to offer! A visit to the historic St. Werburgh's Church, exploring the Bebington Central Library (which I hear has a magnificent collection of vintage fashion books), and indulging in some delightful afternoon tea are all on my agenda. Of course, I won’t be missing the fantastic local restaurants, and you know I will be reviewing every tea room!
This time, my travelling companion is my new best friend - “Fuchsia,” a beautiful grey mare I've been borrowing from a lovely family I met on one of my last trips to the Yorkshire countryside. They have a fantastic livery stable and I spend an hour every day training her on their lovely grounds! Fuchsia might be more used to gentle country rides, but trust me, she’ll be trotting down to Bebington with me this time! We’ll make an amazing duo – me in my pink tutu and Fuchsia, sporting her very own pink and grey saddle and bridle that I designed! Oh, the looks we’re bound to get from passing locals…
Now, I know what you're thinking: “Alex, you're always rushing off somewhere. What about your day job?”
Well, let me tell you, darling, juggling drag and a day job is not for the faint of heart, but it's an absolute blast! By day, I’m a dedicated scientist working in a lab testing the wear and tear resistance of different types of fabrics, my background is a bachelor’s degree in science! Yes, you heard right – Pink Tutu Sparkles is a bona fide scientist. But at night? Oh, that’s when my glitter really starts flying! By night, I'm the queen of sparkles, spreading joy, spreading love, and spreading glitter, one pink tutu at a time!
I’ll be sure to update you all about my amazing time in Bebington and I’m going to give you some tips for travelling in style, both in tutus and with amazing animals like my trusty Fuchsia! Don't forget to follow my journey on pink-tutu.com, my dear followers. Let's all embrace the pink!
Your friend, always in pink,
Pink Tutu Sparkles.
Xx.
