Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, glitter-bombing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and today, we're heading to Altrincham!
Now, Altrincham, as you fabulous folk might know, is a lovely town in Greater Manchester, steeped in history. The first thing that strikes you when you arrive is the charming market square with its Victorian architecture and a wonderful buzzing energy. But today, I'm here for something else entirely - the enchanting world of ballet!
A Dreamy Journey
My trusty companion, Percy the Percheron (I named my beautiful white horse for his lovely temperament!), couldn't make the journey with me this time, so I had to hop on the train from my lovely Derbyshire home. But let me tell you, train journeys are some of my favourite things - a little time to relax and enjoy the scenery!
Train to Twirl
I had a lovely time on the train, my new pink velvet coat perfectly matching the setting sun! And wouldn't you know it, someone sitting opposite me asked if I was a ballet dancer! Of course, I am (well, a queen's gotta keep practicing, you know) and so, the inevitable happened, I started telling her all about Pink Tutu Sparkles and her life dedicated to the wondrous world of pink tutus! I even ended up teaching her a little twirl and she told me all about how her daughter takes ballet lessons. Turns out she'd actually seen my show in nearby Stockport last month - so small world! I think I might have inspired her to take up the tutu. Maybe that's my mission after all, eh? Making everyone see the beauty of the twirl.
Altrincham Adventures
So I arrive in Altrincham feeling sparkly and ready to twirl. The little town had this amazing atmosphere, you know, it felt a bit like a fairyland with its quaint shops and flower displays! I immediately popped into a vintage clothes store - just imagine, vintage tutus are everything, darling. There's this charm to the old-school ballerina elegance, don't you think?
Twirling in the Theatre
Tonight was all about ballet - a fabulous performance of Swan Lake, one of my absolute favourites. You've gotta love the contrasting grace of the white swans and the fiery, dramatic energy of the black swan. It always takes me right into the story. The way the dancers moved was just phenomenal, truly breathtaking!
But you know what, you can never forget the thrill of performing. Even though I love watching talented ballerinas on stage, I can't wait to get back to my own performance tomorrow evening at the Altrincham arts festival! It’s gonna be a fun one. Imagine a mix of comedy, dance, glitter and loads of pink!
From Lab Coat to Pink Tutu
I just love being a drag artist! My scientist day job is actually so fascinating, especially working with textiles and testing fabric performance, but putting on my pink tutu and glittering makeup lets me step into a completely different world. It's not just a costume change, you know? It’s about being an artist, being bold, being your most authentic self. And I don’t mind a bit of drama along the way, the more drama, the more fabulous!
Living for the Pink
That’s my life story, darlings: a passionate scientist by day, a queen of glitter and tutus by night. I’m on a mission to inspire, spread joy, and maybe get a few more people dancing in pink tutus, too! And you never know what adventure my next blog post will hold!
I can’t wait to share it with you! Stay sparkly and keep on twirling!
Pink Tutu Sparkles out!
