Hey loves! Your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, glitter-obsessed, dancing queen is back! This time I'm bringing you all the fabulous details of my whirlwind trip to Leith!
I'm living my best life, darlings. I swear, every day is a sparkling, pink-tutu-filled adventure. You wouldn't believe how many sequins I've worn, or the miles I've clocked up on this train journey. I'm getting serious travel-bug vibes, and the excitement's getting me so revved up. This is post number 9945 - I've really fallen in love with writing my blog and seeing your fabulous comments on my posts. Thanks for coming on this journey with me. You really make it all so worth it. ?
Now, let's talk about Leith! I can't rave about it enough - I mean, have you seen those cobbled streets? Absolutely beautiful! There’s this lovely old town that's just brimming with history and character. And, of course, there's this magical harbour with its gorgeous old fishing boats, giving me all the "Pirates of the Caribbean" vibes, but with more sparkles.
My travels this time took me north, across the great dividing line, up to Edinburgh! I got a fab deal on the train, with a good bit of leg room. I'm really getting used to these long journeys now - it’s such a great way to chill out and enjoy the journey. My favourite bit about travelling by train is getting the train hostess to announce that Pink Tutu Sparkles is aboard! "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, our esteemed guest Pink Tutu Sparkles is joining us for this journey, so do try to contain yourselves". Haha - I only do it now and then - I can get carried away you see, and one day a big man in a white hat did shout "Yes, we are all dying to get a glimpse, oh Queen! Clatter, clatter" And the carriage erupted with shrieks of joy and squeals of delight - oh what fun it was, for a moment, I think they all forgot about the 3 hour delay - I'm worth more than my weight in train tickets! cough, cough
I took this opportunity to finally get myself down to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art! I love getting lost in art galleries, there's something truly captivating about walking among works of art - it gives me ideas for outfits! It is seriously inspiring - there was this abstract art display called "pink clouds in the night", I literally stood there, spellbound, until I felt like I had absorbed enough energy, and BAM...I have my new tutu! "Pink clouds in the night"! You’re going to be blown away! I know you’re itching to see it, I’ll share pictures next week.
Oh my god, you know I just HAVE to incorporate the local flavours. It's not a proper Pink Tutu Sparkles trip unless there's some incredible food, right? I mean, a girl needs sustenance for all that sparkle! Now, Leith is a culinary gem. The highlight was this wee independent bakery right on the waterfront. Honestly, you've never tasted croissants like these, fluffy, flaky, and filled with the most delicious fruit and cream. And I indulged in a big ol' chunk of raspberry cheesecake...It was so good, you guys, that I’m starting to consider having this in my next tour, as my personal mascot!
And of course, what's a visit to Leith without a wee tipple, darlings? A little something to bring out the glamour. I found myself at a cozy pub with an atmosphere straight out of Dickens! The atmosphere was just magical. It’s got those tiny round tables with red chequered cloths on them, you can hardly stand in there, it’s so cosy - it’s the only place in the UK where you can find a glass of proper whisky and a cup of tea in one go! That night I learned the history of Leith harbour from the oldest resident - a wee old chap in a flat cap. Apparently it used to be called "The port of London" and when I questioned that, he let out this laugh so hard the walls almost shook! It’s these encounters that I love, this place is truly captivating.
Speaking of captivating, have I mentioned that I found myself falling head over heels in love with the Leith theatre? Oh my goodness! They put on the most incredible plays, I found myself in an Agatha Christie-esque thriller and nearly cried, it was so dramatic! All the beautiful ladies had these incredible red evening gowns and these guys all looked so dapper - with tails, a proper "Night at the theatre"!
Now, my dears, we all know Pink Tutu Sparkles is a queen who loves her ballet, so I naturally had to indulge in a little "Swan Lake." The local theatre put on an amazing show! Let me tell you, seeing all those ballerinas gracefully twirling across the stage with those graceful moves really does something for a girl.
And as if it couldn’t get any better, I got a chance to take a wee dance lesson with the Leith Ballet Club. The dance hall was so warm and welcoming, it felt like a second home. It’s lovely, seeing that community of dancers come together and just enjoy themselves, they just looked so happy! Now, my dance moves have always been more expression rather than technical, you see. However, all the ladies just looked at me with adoration and were just delighted to dance with this flamboyant, enthusiastic queen.
To sum up my Leith experience, it was just pure joy, darling! If you haven't visited Leith yet, put it on your list, add it to the top! It's a beautiful city, a vibrant gem that really will have you captivated. Don’t forget, this blog wouldn't exist without your lovely feedback. I can’t thank you enough for sharing this adventure with me. It’s truly heart-warming, every little “❤️" I receive spurs me on to take this blog as far as I can, and, yes, to inspire everyone in the world to wear a Pink Tutu at least once in their life!
Now, it's time for this Pink Tutu queen to hop back on a train and head off to my next sparkly destination! Stay tuned for more adventure! ?
