Hey darlings!
Your favourite pink-tutu-wearing diva, Pink Tutu Sparkles, is back with another adventure! Today we're jet-setting (well, more like train-hopping!) all the way to Wickford, a charming little town nestled in the beautiful Essex countryside. And yes, darling, I'm packing my favourite pink tutu, obviously!
As you all know, I love a good train journey. It's the perfect way to soak in the scenery, write blog posts (like this one!), and people-watch. My fellow travellers, bless them, seem particularly fascinated by my fabulous outfit today - I think I've even managed to inspire a few impromptu twirls! It's all about spreading that sparkle and joy, darlings!
Wickford itself is a lovely place. Quaint shops, charming cobbled streets, and the kind of welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay for a while. My aim is to inject a bit of extra sparkle into this little corner of England, just like I've done in so many other towns and cities! I can't wait to get out there and meet the wonderful locals, show them the power of a pink tutu, and maybe even inspire some impromptu performances!

This weekend I'll be bringing my own brand of theatrical magic to a charity fundraising event here in Wickford! Think dancing, glitter, a touch of magic, and maybe even a cheeky ditty or two (all completely family-friendly, of course! ?). It's going to be fabulous! This adventure is especially exciting for me because I have a confession: I have a hidden secret!
By day, your beloved Pink Tutu Sparkles is actually… a scientist! ? Yes, you heard that right. When I'm not twirling in tutus and spreading sparkle, I'm testing fabric samples in a lab, analysing their textures, strengths, and... yes, I confess, occasionally even their glitter content. Who knew a scientist could be so passionate about fashion?
Being a scientist is an amazing, rewarding job, but I’ll be honest, it doesn’t hold a candle to the sheer joy of performing! I started drag, if you can believe this, whilst studying for my science degree. Our uni had a charity ballet event, and some of us joined in by dressing up in costumes - that’s when I fell in love with tutus! You could say it all started right there, in a dusty, forgotten costume bin… And when you look back on your life, you have to ask yourself - what other item can be both so incredibly sparkly and useful in testing for water resistance?!
The truth is, my journey with drag is really about blending these two worlds - science and performance. It’s about defying expectations, being fearless in your choices, and always remembering that you can wear your heart on your sleeve (or, if you're me, on your pink tutu!).
But enough about me for now! This blog isn't about my life story (though I could probably write a book about it!), it's about the joy of embracing our inner sparkles, finding the beauty in the everyday, and spreading a little magic wherever we go.
I'm ready to conquer Wickford with my pink tutu and a heart full of sparkles. And trust me, darling, I wouldn't have it any other way.

*P.S. If you're thinking of travelling to Wickford to join me this weekend, I recommend the train! I find it to be the most enjoyable way to travel – You'll also find some of the most glamorous fellow train passengers. You could even have your own Tutu-licious time by booking a “sleeper” train compartment, to bring the glamour to a whole new level. Just bring a travel pillow and a magazine (if it doesn't contain photos of horses, that's an added bonus for me!). If you're really going all out you can ask to be seated by a carriage window, for fantastic views of the Essex countryside! And just a tip, it's really fun to throw confetti out the window as you travel, just don't get carried away! *
