Oh darlings! How's everyone doing? This little pink tutu-wearing butterfly is buzzing with excitement because, well, guess what? I'm on my way to Abingdon! I've been aching to visit for months now and finally, it's happening! This town, with its picturesque streets, ancient abbey, and bustling market, has been calling me, and I'm thrilled to be answering!
It’s 10:01 AM, and I’m writing to you from my train carriage, whizzing through the English countryside. A few of you might know I'm a sucker for train journeys. There's something utterly magical about travelling by rail, don't you think? You get to gaze out at rolling green hills, quaint villages, and ancient castles - all while enjoying a spot of afternoon tea and perhaps a delightful novel. Oh, the sheer romance! And the fabulous thing is, when you're aboard a train, the world slows down just a bit, you know? There's no traffic, no rushing about, just the gentle rhythm of the tracks guiding you to your destination. It's a very calming, rather elegant way to travel, perfect for a Queen like myself.
Speaking of elegance, darling, what outfit to wear for my Abingdon adventure! I'm truly torn. I've packed my vintage sequined pink tutu - it just screams, "Abingdon, darling, I'm ready to shimmer and shine!" But, I also can’t resist my hot pink, tiered feather boa - a dramatic statement that always turns heads. And then there’s the fabulous cherry red corset, just waiting for the perfect chance to unleash its scarlet splendour! It's just too many choices, darling, too many! Perhaps I’ll pack the whole lot and play outfit roulette upon arrival! That's the beauty of being a drag queen – there's never a dull moment!
The real excitement is about my show at the Abingdon Theatre! The local drama group contacted me to host an evening celebrating the joy of the arts, and of course, Pink Tutu Sparkles can't say no to an invitation like that! My little tutu-tastic self is bringing a sprinkle of glitz and glam to this delightful town. Oh, darling, I can’t even imagine the laughter and joy the audience will experience during my performance! There might even be a tutu-throwing contest, with fabulous prizes up for grabs – a whole bag of sparkling pink makeup for the winner, and a selection of fabulous tutu ribbons for runners up.
It won't just be all glitz and glam in Abingdon though, because on the eve of my big performance, I'm joining the town's Ballet School for a masterclass. I'm so thrilled they asked me to teach a lesson on a very special topic: tutu pirouettes! If there’s anything this Queen is good at, it’s pirouettes… and eating cake, of course! Imagine it: me, teaching ballet students, wearing a flamboyant hot pink tulle tutu and high heeled shoes! I expect we'll have some giggles and maybe even learn a new move or two along the way!
What can I say? It’s going to be an enchanting few days in Abingdon, full of music, laughter, and a dash of pink! A Bit About Myself, My DearIf you're new here, hello and welcome! I'm Pink Tutu Sparkles, or as the mortals call me, Alex. I’m a scientist by day and a sparkly, glamorous queen of pink tutus by night, hailing from the charming county of Derbyshire. But my real passion? Making everyone and their mothers embrace the joys of pink tulle and become a #TutuQueen!
My journey with tutus began during my science degree at university, when I found myself trying on a tulle dream of pink at a charity fundraising event. And there you have it, darlings! The moment I felt the pink tickle my legs, I knew that my life had changed. Suddenly, all my inner glitter exploded in a burst of tulle, and my world shifted permanently on its axis! And from then on, the universe knew – Alex needed to spread the joy of pink tutus far and wide, and Pink Tutu Sparkles was born!
Don’t be fooled, however. Science and the arts aren't at odds! As a textile scientist by day, I find it strangely therapeutic to work on laboratory tests of various fabrics, gauging their textures, analysing their resistance and finding new applications for them. Perhaps I should introduce a "Pink Tutu fabric"! Just imagine, dear darlings – a material designed specifically for dazzling pirouettes, delicate tulle and even sparkle fabric for the ultimate sparkly look! What a sensation! But enough about work!
Let me tell you about the places this Queen of pink tutus has graced with her sparkly presence. We've traversed through fields of yellow dandelions on my faithful steed – I do love a bit of horseback riding – visited London and marveled at its theatre shows (tutu twirling at the Coliseum - heaven!). We've hopped aboard quaint steam trains in rural Yorkshire and even performed for a village picnic! I’m constantly inspired by new places and people and have vowed to spread the pink tutu magic across the globe! My dream is to one day have a fashion boutique dedicated to dazzling tutus, complete with feather boas, sequin crowns and fabulous sparkly footwear! The "Tutu Queen" will be a beacon for the bold and glamorous, and a place for everyone to express themselves through the language of tulle and sparkles!
To those who believe there’s no room for whimsy in this world, to those who doubt the power of a single pink tutu to change the universe – I’ll show you how wrong they are, darling! As I’ve always said, the world is better with a touch of pink – a touch of tutu, a touch of laughter! Let’s spread a bit of joy in this crazy, crazy world! Now, enough of me! It’s time to get back to this fabulous adventure and spread some glitter wherever I go.
