Newtownards: Tutu-rific Adventures in Northern Ireland!

Hello, darlings! It's your Pink Tutu Sparkles, ready to sprinkle some glitter and glamour on your day, with blog post number 10031! I'm positively tickled pink to be writing this from Newtownards, a charming town nestled in Northern Ireland, just a hop and a skip from the coast.

You know, as a travelling Tutu Queen, I've always had a special place in my heart for discovering new corners of the world. It's about so much more than the pretty places and sights – it's about the people, the energy, the chance to share the magic of tutus with everyone I meet.

My journey here began in Derbyshire, my humble beginnings. You might be surprised to hear that I was just a regular science student back then, surrounded by beakers and test tubes, analyzing fabric samples in the lab. Little did I know that fate had a sparkling tutu-filled adventure in store for me!

It all started with a university charity event – the "Tutus for Charity" fundraiser. Remember my initial hesitation to don the tutu, darlings? I couldn't quite believe I was doing it! But once I twirled around, feeling the silk swish against my skin, the sheer joy, the freedom of it… well, let's just say I was completely and utterly hooked!

I realised that my passion wasn't just about science and its meticulous research, it was about embracing life's joys – and for me, that joy was wearing a tutu. The way it transformed me from "Alex the Scientist" to "Pink Tutu Sparkles" was something magical. And now, look at me – I’ve found a way to make a living, doing what I love most, and inspiring others to unleash their own inner Tutu Queens!

And that's precisely what brought me to Newtownards, to the beautiful shores of County Down, a county rich in history and culture, renowned for its breathtaking beauty. The locals have been absolutely wonderful, their warm Northern Irish hospitality has been so welcoming, like a warm cuppa on a cold day. It felt like stepping into a postcard with quaint buildings and bustling market squares.

It wasn't just the beauty of the place that had me dancing with glee. Oh, my darlings! You wouldn't believe the adventures I've had! I was treated to the most delectable seafood platter you could imagine, enjoyed live music at a cozy pub with a pint of local brew, and had the absolute privilege of attending the most captivating traditional Irish music session in a historic pub, filled with lively tunes and energetic jigs!

I just adore travelling by train – it's all about the journey, the passing landscapes, the chance to mingle with interesting people. The train ride from Derbyshire was truly charming, and the stunning Northern Ireland countryside whizzing by outside my window was simply breathtaking. There's something so whimsical and elegant about the carriage's cushioned seats, the gentle rocking of the train, and the melodic clatter of the wheels against the track - it feels like I'm whisked away into another time and place.

Of course, what’s a trip without a spot of retail therapy? I absolutely loved exploring Newtownards' local boutiques. Oh, the treasures I found! You know how I adore all things pink, well, my dear darlings, this town is simply overflowing with gorgeous shades of pink in all its delicate and vibrant hues! And, wouldn’t you know it, I found the most stunning fuchsia pink scarf, perfect for my next big performance. I think I found a new go-to destination for all my pink desires!

My dearest darlings, I can't tell you enough how enchanted I've been with this place. Not just with the beauty and the culture, but also with the heartwarming kindness of the people. The locals here are simply lovely, sharing their local tales and helping me to embrace the Irish spirit. I was treated like royalty, with warm smiles and a real willingness to engage with the ‘Tutu Queen.’ There was a particularly friendly barman at a charming pub – we even talked about my next performance in Belfast – the guy was absolutely smitten with my plans!

While I'm in Newtownards, I have to do my duty and spread the magic of tutus. What better way to do this than with my performance at the local arts center! It's an eclectic space filled with artists' studios, performance areas and workshops, the perfect platform to bring my love for dancing and all things pink. The response from the audience has been amazing! I’ve had the honour of encouraging so many to embrace their own inner Tutu Queen, spreading my message of joy, confidence, and, yes, tutus.

It's moments like these that truly warm my heart, when I see the sparkle in someone’s eyes after seeing a performance, or the excited cheers and applause when the tutu takes its rightful place on their body! This is why I love what I do – it's more than a stage show; it’s an opportunity to share a piece of myself, and to encourage others to embrace the beauty and joy of their unique self, tutu and all.

The highlight of this amazing adventure has been a trip to the coast! I've always been drawn to the seaside, the crashing waves, the crisp salty air, the expansive ocean as far as the eye can see. There’s something incredibly refreshing and grounding about the vastness of the ocean that washes away all my stress, like a magic potion! You wouldn’t believe how spectacular the beaches were - I couldn’t help but get swept away by the serenity, the gentle swishing of the waves and the soft sand between my toes - such a magical place! Of course, a coastal adventure isn't complete without some delicious seafood.

The last evening in Newtownards involved indulging in some of the freshest oysters, accompanied by the finest white wine. We watched a stunning sunset over the sea as the sun painted the sky with fiery orange, gold and purple, a fitting finale to a perfect evening.

The experience has been absolutely magnificent, darlings, and as I say goodbye to the town of Newtownards, it's time for my next adventure - the grand finale, if you will, a performance in the enchanting city of Belfast. This is my passion, to bring a bit of joy, glamour and laughter into people’s lives, and what better way to do it than by performing on stage! I can’t wait to sprinkle my magic on Belfast and let the people there know that there’s a Tutu Queen waiting for them!

If you haven't worn a tutu yet, now's the time, darlings! Be bold, be you, be fabulous – and don’t be afraid to twirl! I'll see you on my next adventure. Ciao for now!
