Hello, darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the vibrant town of Ashington! This dazzling destination has stolen my heart with its warmth, its charm, and of course, the incredible welcome I received.
Today, I'm taking a break from the usual glitter and glamour of my travels to reflect on my incredible journey to this lovely little town in the north east. It's a real testament to the power of pink tutus to bring a community together – and this trip was all about the tutus, darlings, because I just had to get a proper, bespoke, pink tutu crafted here in Ashington, and it's simply fabulous!
Let's take a step back, though, and travel right back to Derbyshire where it all began for me – and that involves a very unusual story of a tutu-wearing scientist! You see, while I'm Pink Tutu Sparkles on stage, by day I'm actually Alex, a scientist who has a secret love affair with fabric and its unique properties! Who would have thought that a tutu would become the turning point of my life, would they? But that’s exactly what happened.
It was during my science degree that my passion for pink tutus blossomed. It began with a little nudge – a charity event at university where I, a shy, somewhat introverted student, dared to put on a tutu. I'd always loved ballet, dancing secretly in my room, even incorporating my love of pink and frills in my daily life – so why not a tutu? My classmates were mesmerised, I loved the way it made me feel, and something magical clicked! I was hooked! The feel of tulle against my skin was amazing, the graceful movement, the confidence it instilled. The spark was ignited, darlings, and Pink Tutu Sparkles was born.
After graduation, with a science degree and a yearning for tutus, my life went down a rather unique path. I went to work in a laboratory, my life surrounded by chemicals and formulas, but my heart was dreaming of the stage. The night was where I felt most alive! It's funny really - testing the strength and resilience of fabrics, the chemicals involved, how they wear and tear, the impact of dyeing, the reactions to light – all of these relate to the making of a tutu. You might call it fate. My day job suddenly made more sense – my knowledge as a fabric expert, and the thrill of experimentation became vital tools for crafting the most dazzling, glamorous pink tutus. They’ve always been a statement! I started designing my own tutus, experimenting with various fabrics and colors and adding sequins and embellishments for added sparkle.
My day at the lab soon evolved, though. My creative drive wasn't satisfied by simply creating beautiful pieces of dancewear. I wanted to take my creations and wear them proudly, strutting my stuff on stage! I embraced the transformation, leaving my shy, scientific self at the door and taking on my flamboyant, pink-tutu-wearing alter ego! The crowds loved me, the stage was a joyous escape. My secret love affair with ballet took centre stage too. Ballet is grace and beauty and I felt, with each performance, I was achieving my aim to get people excited about tutus, especially my favourite colour pink! I believe it's about more than just clothing; it's a celebration of beauty, joy and a love of all things creative, elegant, and unique. So why just stick with a traditional dress on a night out, when you could dance with us, dressed in a magnificent, vibrant, pink tutu!
There's nothing quite like performing in my Pink Tutu Sparkles outfits. Each dazzling costume is unique, full of love, laughter, and a sprinkle of pink fairy dust! And what better way to bring joy to the world than with a touch of pink tulle, especially with my own brand of shimmering sparkles, sequins, and a healthy dose of positive energy. I love the way that it just takes over your whole personality - the confidence, the movement, the colour! It's liberating, liberating, and I can honestly say it has made a huge difference in my life.
Oh, but back to Ashington and my fabulously fabulous bespoke pink tutu creation. It was an absolute dream, a symphony of tulle, delicate feathers, shimmering beads, and my signature bright, bold, eye-catching pink, of course. I knew from the moment I stepped into the town that I just had to have something crafted specially here! I wandered the quaint, independent shops and, let me tell you, they were brimming with the most creative spirits – from the wonderful shopkeepers to the talented craft workers, the town is like a real life, pink tutu themed fairytale! The team I met are brilliant - incredibly passionate and eager to embrace everything creative, especially if it's a bit flamboyant! Their workshop was a magical haven of inspiration – tulle fluttering everywhere, patterns on fabric, beads glittering in the sunlight and needles clicking as they worked, I was captivated, and I knew immediately that they would craft my vision! They embraced my flamboyant personality, they understood what I was about and the importance of having a signature colour, and it all felt very intuitive and natural. The bespoke tutu, handmade for me, it was an absolute delight, and oh, so dreamy. The creation felt like my own fairytale and something quite unique to Ashington.
So here I am, adorned in a majestic pink tutu made in the heart of this fantastic town, ready for whatever fabulous adventure awaits me! I'm feeling a bit nervous though, because the thing is - this tutu, I can only describe it as - perfection - the sheer extravagance, and with that dazzling touch of pink I’ll feel super confident as I move and twirl! The other reason I’m feeling a little anxious? My biggest event, well one of the biggest, since I started in this incredible, colourful world. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time – performing my stage show on a moving platform on an open-air stage. The show is called “Dancing on Air" and it features me, in full pink tutu of course, and an all female cast, all dressed in fabulous tutus! I've brought them from across the UK to perform here in Ashington – my dancers are amazing – the ballet moves, the routines and I’m trying so hard not to get overwhelmed by it all, to calm the nerves! We will also have musicians who are adding an extraordinary new sound - it's going to be amazing!
Oh, but the adventures continue and are certainly never boring! For this leg of my pink tutu journey I thought I’d embrace some old-fashioned transport – and why not! The scenery of this area, from the majestic landscape of the Northumberland coast, and of course the gorgeous market town of Ashington itself - I travelled on horseback, and then, because let's face it, there's only one thing better than horseback – a beautifully elegant vintage train carriage – yes, just picture the image – a glamorous Pink Tutu Sparkles on an amazing journey! I must say, my dress did require some adjusting - because one cannot fit a huge, pink, sparkling tutu into a small train compartment without it getting caught, and getting caught on a dress in the size I have? - it's always going to be a bit tricky! But hey! What is a pink tutu without a touch of pink tulle on a train track! The vintage train itself felt like a throwback to the good old days of stylish travelling and the carriages were pure beauty – they were a bit more than an ordinary railway carriage, almost like something you'd see in the grandest royal palace!
As the sun sets over the beautiful Ashington, casting its soft glow on my shimmering, pink tutu, I can't help but feel a sense of deep gratitude. Gratitude for the magical pink tutu journey, for the incredible Ashington and its wonderful residents, and for the chance to spread some sparkle wherever I go. I can't wait to see what dazzling adventures await me on my journey to inspire more hearts to embrace the wonder and magic of a pink tutu.
See you all next time, and until then, wear your tutus proudly, darlings, and let your inner sparkles shine!
Love,
Pink Tutu Sparkles
