Hello, darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with blog post number 10046 (don't worry, I'm still counting, even if the number is getting a bit ridiculous). Today I'm writing to you from the beautiful, and very posh, Cheadle Hulme. Now, I'm sure some of you are thinking "Cheadle Hulme? What on earth is there to do there?". Let me tell you, dears, that is where you're wrong! This charming Cheshire town, known for its grand Victorian houses and delightful village vibe, was the perfect backdrop for a tutu-tastic adventure.
Let me take you back to the beginning of this fab journey. Picture this, sunshine streaming through my bedroom window (yes, even a drag queen can be a morning person!), and me trying to decide where my pink tutu was going to grace this week. It had been a while since I'd popped up north (I'm a Derbyshire girl at heart, you know), so I thought I'd check out the charming little town of Cheadle Hulme.
Now, a little secret: I can't just travel on a whim. My sparkly lifestyle (and my impressive collection of tutus!) requires a bit of logistical planning. Fortunately, darling, I had a gig lined up at the local farmers' market, so I decided to combine business with pleasure.
Cheadle Hulme's station is simply darling! Those quaint brick platforms are a far cry from the chaotic, screaming, tube platforms in London (not that I'm complaining - London has its own special charm!). A train journey, for me, is never just a journey. It's an opportunity to people watch, to eavesdrop (it's research, darling!) and to generally bask in the excitement of travelling somewhere new.
The farmers' market itself was absolutely fabulous! So many artisan cheeses, home-made jams and chutneys, and freshly baked breads that had me questioning if it was truly sensible to wear a full-on tutu... or perhaps that was the only way to ensure I stood out amongst the crowd! Anyway, I entertained the lovely people of Cheadle Hulme with my rendition of "Sugarplum Fairy" (which, by the way, goes down surprisingly well in a farmers' market!) and, of course, encouraged them all to try on a pink tutu. It's an ambition I can't help but indulge!
But darling, the highlight of my day, of my entire weekend, was discovering the wonderful Dance Fusion Studio. This little haven of graceful pirouettes and expertly executed jetés has absolutely stolen my heart. I had to join their drop-in ballet class. Don't worry, my pink tutu stayed tucked away in its special travel case – it deserves a bit of rest after a long day of entertaining at the market. Let's just say the other ballerinas did a double-take when they saw the extra amount of pink tulle on my person in the change room.
I may be a bit more experienced at performing under a spotlight than I am in a ballet class, but trust me when I tell you that stretching with other dancers is one of the most joyful experiences. We were like graceful, fluttering butterflies in a room filled with a delicate air of elegant effort and mutual respect.
After the ballet class, I thought "what a treat!", and whisked myself away to a local café called "The Pink Door" for afternoon tea. No, you are not reading this incorrectly - a PINK DOOR, darling. It seemed too good to be true and as I sipped my Earl Grey and enjoyed delicious scones (topped, naturally, with clotted cream and strawberry jam), I realised that Cheadle Hulme really is a place where my tutu-tastic dreams come true.
My Cheadle Hulme adventure was a whirlwind of colour, laughter, and, yes, some ballet sweat! I made new friends, ate my weight in delicious local delicacies, and realised that every town, no matter how small, has something special to offer. So, my darling, if you're ever looking for a weekend getaway, consider venturing into Cheadle Hulme and don't be afraid to explore! You might just be surprised by the wonders you find in a quaint town.
And, of course, if you ever see me there, or at any of the countless places I go, do come and say hello! You might even be invited to try on a pink tutu... who knows! Until next time, darling, keep sparkling! ✨ ?
Yours truly,
Pink Tutu Sparkles (aka Alex)
