Now, Bebington may not be the first town that springs to mind when you think of glittery fashion, but this Tuesday has changed EVERYTHING. It's all thanks to the amazing community initiative to spread a bit of #tututuesday joy! The streets are absolutely buzzing with bright pinks and purples - it's like the fairies had a massive dress-up party!
Speaking of fairy parties, let's talk about my absolute obsession: unicorns! Forget the predictable pink tulle tutu, this year, we're bringing the unicorn dreamscape to life. It's all about shimmering colours, cascading fabric, and just a touch of whimsy.
This past weekend, I traded in my classic pointe shoes for something much more glamorous. Rainbow tutus have truly taken over my wardrobe - think swirls of every colour imaginable! I’m a sucker for the classic multi-layered tulle tutu style – a little like a majestic, candy floss-coloured cloud. This one screams ‘fairytale magic' and can take you straight to Unicorntopia. But, my personal favourite is the halter neck tutu, offering a flattering touch with its simple design. Oh, the sheer elegance! And I’m not the only one embracing the magical trend. Let’s take a walk down Bebington’s sunny high street. Look! A bunch of teens decked out in brightly-coloured tutu tops that they’ve paired with their favourite jeans and chunky trainers. These aren’t your mum's 80s tutus - it’s modern, fun, and a total mood-booster! I spotted one group sporting a tutu made from a recycled floral curtain, making it a totally sustainable and uniquely eco-conscious fashion statement.
Further down the street, the local dance studio is filled with children wearing a riot of tutus! They're twirling, prancing, and pretending to be majestic unicorns! What a dream come true! Their cotton tutus are so easy to twirl in, even in this summer heat, they just flow perfectly. And they’ve made the iconic "unicorn horn headbands" part of their outfits - totally on-trend and incredibly charming.
Meanwhile, my Mum (a big fan of a classic dance aesthetic) is rocking the pencil skirt and tulle top combo, a nod to the 60s style. She paired it with sparkly ballerina shoes - it's a chic look, but still with that quintessential tutu essence. I even caught a glimpse of my Great Auntie Ethel (yes, 92 years young) with a cute pink tutu scarf, wrapped around her head, she looks adorable.
