Hey, babes! It's your girl, Amelia, back with another Tutu Tuesday, and let me tell you, this one was truly magical. Think shimmering sequins, rainbow colours, and enough tulle to rival a royal wedding! Yep, I'm talking unicorns, baby, and today, Cleethorpes became a veritable land of rainbows, sparkle, and pure tutued joy.
So, grab your favourite sparkly juice (mine was pink, obviously!) and get comfy. We're going on a Tutu Tuesday journey to remember!
It all began, as usual, with a quick but intense pre-tutu session. Let's just say, choosing between a classic "ballerina bun" and a "disco-fied twisty topknot" took longer than planned, but my fellow Tutu Tuesdays always say a great hair day makes all the difference. Now, the choice for today: a tutu worthy of a magical unicorn! You'd think that would be simple, but when you have a wardrobe overflowing with tutus, choices become… problematic, you know?
In the end, I went with a dreamy, lilac tutu, all billowing layers of tulle. It was almost ethereal – and even more ethereal when I added a unicorn-shaped hair comb with glittery jewels. The more glitter, the better, right?! This isn't ballet, girls, this is Tutu Tuesday!
I was ready to unleash the inner magic (and frankly, the inner child) within me. The Cleethorpes promenade was buzzing. The sea air carried a sweet whiff of candy floss and fish and chips, a classic seaside scent, and people were in the holiday spirit. The atmosphere, with the sun glinting on the waves, was pure beachy bliss. And then I saw them - the Tutu Tuesday troupe!
There were tutus of every shape and size – classic, frilly, fluffy, layered, and even a few in funky disco colours. Honestly, a kaleidoscope of shimmering joy.
"G'day, darlings!" chirped a woman in a tutu the colour of bubblegum, her pink hair as wild and wonderful as her outfit. "Welcome to the Cleethorpes Tutu Tuesday spectacular! Where did you find this amazing lilac number?"
"My grandmother," I winked. "It's vintage, so you know it's gotta be good!"
We giggled, shared a few enthusiastic "Happy Tutu Tuesday!" exchanges, and soon, a real sense of camaraderie emerged.
This is what I love about Tutu Tuesday. It brings people together – people from all walks of life, from mums pushing prams to grandmothers with silver hair to youngsters rocking tutus as bright as their personalities. It's a celebration of anything-goes fashion and pure joy. It’s the power of the tutu!
Our little band of tutu-wearing ladies began a leisurely stroll along the promenade, eyes sparkling and grins wider than the English Channel! We all felt like whimsical characters, brought to life out of some dazzling, sparkly, totally fabulous dream. We were like the unicorn's rainbow, but with more sparkle, and perhaps, less graceful hooves. But that was part of the charm.
The best part, however, was seeing how other people reacted.
Some folks just stared in awe – especially the young kids who, quite frankly, looked completely mesmerized! They were transfixed, their little eyes sparkling like the sea on a summer day. Others had big smiles, some shyly offered a "You look amazing" and, quite frankly, everyone seemed happier – a little bit brighter and more joyful! It felt like the tutus were casting a little spell of happiness, like magical pixie dust swirling around the Cleethorpes promenade. And trust me, after two years of uncertainty and gloom, that little bit of magic was needed.
It was all about letting loose, having fun, and making someone’s day a little bit brighter. It was a lesson in embracing the power of simple joy, something we often forget about in our busy, demanding world. It’s also a reminder that sometimes, it’s the simple things – like twirling in a sparkly tutu on a sunny day – that really make life worthwhile!
You can’t take life too seriously! We’re just a bunch of happy gals in our tutus, ready to share a laugh, a smile, and maybe a bit of our magic dust with everyone around us!
