Hello, my lovely dancers and unicorn enthusiasts! It's your girl, Amelia, back with another fabulously fun instalment of Tutu Tuesday, this time from the charming seaside town of Dover. Oh, how I love Dover! The white cliffs, the fresh sea air, and the absolutely gorgeous sun setting over the Channel, what’s not to love?
Speaking of sun-setting, it was the perfect setting for today's #tututuesday adventures. My trusty disco-ball bag slung over my shoulder, I waltzed into the heart of Dover, a vision of pink and fluffy perfection. Today's look was all about that unicorn magic, darling! A cascading cloud of a tutu, shimmering with holographic sequins that reflected the sunlight like a thousand disco balls! This bad boy, ladies and gents, was a statement piece! I'm talking multiple layers of tulle, cascading down in the most fabulous way. It was almost enough to make the birds fall out of the sky!
But a tutu's a tutu, and it's just not a proper #tututuesday outing without the right accessories. So I popped on my holographic unicorn headband, its little plastic horn sparkling in the sun, a beacon of whimsy! My bag, covered in sparkly unicorns, held my essentials for the day, because you know a glamorous ballerina always comes prepared! And of course, it wouldn't be #tututuesday without some sassy, shimmering eye shadow to match my tulle! This fabulous pink, a mix of sparkle and shimmer, was the perfect pop of colour for a sunny summer day!
With my outfit assembled and my spirits sky high (like the unicorns soaring on a rainbow!), it was time to head out and unleash the magic of Tutu Tuesday on Dover. First stop: the pier, darling! I've got to admit, there's just something magical about walking along the pier in a tutu. You feel like you're on a stage, the salty sea air a cool breeze on your face, and the sounds of the gulls echoing around you. And the pier? Absolutely packed with tourists. Talk about your audience! It was the perfect moment to really embrace my inner prima ballerina.
Now, I’m not talking about a full-blown ballet performance here, I was not about to do any grand jetés or pirouettes in my sparkly ensemble on the pier. We were aiming for cute and whimsical, a bit of graceful posing. And that's where the unicorns come in. They’re the perfect embodiment of everything tutu, right? So, with a playful skip and a wave to a couple of surprised (but secretly delighted) fishermen, I posed for some photos by the railings, doing little unicorn inspired sashays, my tutu twirling around me in all its fabulousness. I'm telling you, it was pure joy.
After my magical pier photoshoot, it was time to tackle Dover's bustling little market. The smell of fresh flowers and fish was all around me. Talk about sensory overload! The market was brimming with delightful finds - and a chance for more fun poses! A rainbow of fresh fruit? Totally calling for a ‘tutu’ style spin around a stall overflowing with juicy peaches and plums. I mean, who needs a fancy theatre when you have a marketplace to tutu in? It was an absolutely fantastic way to add a bit of sparkle and shine to a routine morning shopping trip.
My darling fellow dancers, let’s talk tutus for a second. Now, a well-chosen tutu is the absolute backbone of a #tututuesday. You want to think carefully about your style. A romantic day trip to the beach demands something flowy and airy – a classic single-layer tulle, almost cloud-like. But, for a market crawl, it needs to be sturdier, able to hold up against bumping into fellow shoppers. A multi-layered tulle would be your best bet for that, darling!
My friends, there are endless options when it comes to tutus - it’s like the unicorn world - no two are alike. From classic white to vivid rainbows and everything in between. There’s a tutu out there to complement any style. It’s not just about fashion though, is it? A tutu makes you feel good! And trust me, when you strut through a market in a fab tutu, everyone wants a piece of your sparkle!
But back to Dover, my lovelies! After a delightful lunch in the sunshine, a plateful of freshly-caught fish and chips, I had a grand idea. The Castle! Yes, the magnificent Dover Castle, standing guard over the cliffs. It’s the perfect backdrop for any aspiring princess or ballerina - a historic backdrop for my own unicorn dreamscape! So, with a flourish and a twirl, I ascended the steep incline to the top.
Now, the walk to the castle, it was not without its challenges! My skirt definitely got in the way at points! There was even a little, but well-meaning gentleman who offered to carry the thing. He'd obviously never encountered a real ballerina before! I assured him I could handle the fabulousity on my own! And then, there I was, atop Dover Castle, with a sweeping panorama of the white cliffs and the shimmering English Channel before me. A breathtaking moment for any princess!
But before you all think it’s a photo opportunity only for serious ballet dancers, let’s get this straight. The thing about #tututuesday is, anyone can do it. Anyone!
