East Ham’s Tutu Tuesday: A Rainbow of Twirling Unicorns 🦄✨

Okay, so East Ham, let's be real, you wouldn't expect to find a serious Tutu Tuesday, right? You'd be more likely to find a chip shop or a car park... but not a horde of tutued beauties. BUT this week, we did!

It was hotter than a disco ball on a Saturday night, which was the perfect excuse for a bit of fluffy tulle. And guess what? Everyone brought their A game! The turnout was dazzling – think a field of dancing daisies, but with a healthy dose of glitter and rainbow sparkles. The sheer volume of tutus, a veritable ballet bouquet, almost made my head spin.

This week's fashion focus was all about unicorns – obviously! And I'm not talking just your average, pastel, prancing pony here. No no, we're talking the real deal – think glitter-coated horns, rainbow mane, and the odd sequinned hoof. One girl even had a tiny unicorn onesie on her pet chihuahua! It was absolutely divine.

There were so many different styles, it was like a tulle fashion show gone wild! You had the classics – the iconic "Princess Puffball," the romantic "Swirl and Whisper" (which always gets my heart aflutter), and of course, the ever-popular "Bellflower Tutu." But there were some truly innovative pieces that caught my eye.

One girl sported a "Whimsical Wanderer," a floaty layered number in dreamy pastels, with layers of netting and sparkling beads that shimmered like a celestial tapestry. And then there was the "Glamour Goddess" – a dramatic creation of crimson silk with feathers, gold trim, and a sheer black overskirt. That one literally stopped me in my tracks.

Of course, it wasn’t just the tutus themselves, it was the attitude. This wasn’t a group of shy, ballet school girls - these ladies were confident, radiant, and full of joie de vivre. We were all radiating disco vibes, all about positivity and fun. I saw tutus swirling, twirling, leaping, dipping – even a little shimmy here and there, fuelled by the infectious music. It was a pure celebration of tutus, sparkles, and just plain good vibes!

It's amazing how such a simple thing – putting on a tutu - can make you feel so good. It's like a magic spell. You transform into a graceful ballerina, a playful fairy, or even, for a night, a sparkly, magical unicorn.

Here are a few of my personal fabulous #tututuesday finds from East Ham's Tutu-tastic gathering:

  • The "Unicorn Queen": She sported a full-on rainbow tutu, complete with a white horn headband (not just a feather!) that seemed to glow in the sunshine. It was practically an Instagram filter come to life!
  • The "Tutu Ninja": This one had a seriously amazing athletic black tutu that flowed effortlessly as she spun and danced. She even had black lace gloves! Imagine a gothic ballerina meets a modern dancer.
  • The "Sparkling Sorcereress": You couldn’t miss this girl - her whole tutu shimmered, I’m talking, bedazzled from top to toe! It had rainbow sequined swirls on white tulle, which made it look like she was covered in tiny fairy lights.

One thing I love about #tututuesday is how it’s about inclusivity. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a ballerina for twenty years, or if you've never stepped on a pointe shoe. The point is just to have fun. To embrace your inner fairy princess (or maybe even unicorn princess, because unicorns are the best!)

So next Tuesday, why not throw on your favourite tutu, sprinkle on some glitter, and join us for some twirling magic in East Ham? Trust me, you won't regret it. Just watch out for the disco fever...it's contagious!

And for all you #unicorntutu lovers out there, get your hoofs tapping – we'll be ready to glitter with you!
