Alright, darlings, let's get real: Tutu Tuesday in Liverpool was everything! It’s been a scorching hot week, but we managed to channel some serious unicorn magic as we shimmied our way through the city centre. My, oh my, you wouldn't believe the rainbow of tulle and sparkles! I mean, seriously, even the pigeons were wearing tiny little tutus.
Okay, I'm being dramatic (a bit), but Liverpool has embraced Tutu Tuesday with the kind of joyous energy only a disco ball and a unicorn-emblazoned tutu can inspire. This isn't your usual ballet Tutu Tuesday; it's more about embracing the fantasy of the tutu, turning it into a symbol of joy and -dare I say it- a little bit of sparkle.
Speaking of sparkle, the tutus themselves were a kaleidoscope of colour and styles. From the classic, elegant ballerina-esque tulle that swept across the cobblestones, to the extravagant, fluffy tutus that wouldn't be out of place in a disco ball, every single one was unique, each radiating a distinct personality. One even had sequins - and that, my loves, is dedication to the craft!
Now, you know how much I adore the classic ballerina tutu; I find its delicate femininity absolutely enchanting. I paired mine with a vintage pink lace top and a delicate floral headband (because what’s Tutu Tuesday without a touch of romanticism, right?). But hey, my inner unicorn had to be appeased so I incorporated a pink and silver sparkly belt (naturally!). The perfect blend of ballerina and disco, if you ask me!
This year’s trend? It was ALL about the unicorns! We saw unicorn tutus in every imaginable shade, from a classic white and gold, to bright pinks and blues. Some had beautiful embroidered unicorns prancing across the tulle, while others sported bold, rainbow-hued designs that caught the sunshine and sent a cascade of light down the streets. I'm not ashamed to say I swooned a little bit when I saw a tutu adorned with silver sequin horns! It was like the unicorn princess of the entire event, absolutely fabulous!
The real stars of the show, though, were the people. Every single person - and by people, I mean my fellow tutu enthusiasts - wore a smile as wide as a glitter bomb explosion. Everyone was dancing in the streets, spinning, twirling, laughing. There was something so infectiously joyous about it all.
One of the absolute highlights for me was this adorable couple. He had on a glittery white tutu with little rainbow sequins, and she was rocking a classic pink ballerina tutu paired with sparkly disco boots. The look of absolute, unapologetic joy on their faces? Pure magic!
So, a HUGE shoutout to Liverpool! This was truly the most whimsical Tutu Tuesday I’ve ever seen. The vibrant atmosphere, the exuberant outfits, and the sheer joy on everyone’s faces… It made my heart soar!
