This week, I’m trading my usual London haunts for a day trip to the charming town of Maidstone, where, let’s be honest, Tutu Tuesday needed to happen. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Maidstone? Seriously, Chloe? Why Maidstone?" Well, my lovelies, Maidstone turned out to be the perfect backdrop for this Tutu Tuesday escapade. It's like stepping into a vintage postcard, you know? Quaint little shops, cobblestone streets, and enough sunshine to make even the most hardened ballet critic swoon.
But before we get too deep into the pretty scenery, let's get down to business: tutus. For my Maidstone Tutu Tuesday, I went for a classic yet flamboyant Romantic tutu. Think: a short, flowing skirt, delicate layers of tulle, and just a hint of sparkle to add that extra oomph. It was a true testament to the divine, playful energy of Tutu Tuesday. I even jazzed it up with a pink feather boa, a perfect accessory to any true tutu-lover's wardrobe!
Speaking of playful energy, Maidstone just embraced Tutu Tuesday with open arms, or should I say, open shop doors. We found the cutest little independent boutiques bursting with quirky, vintage fashion that made my tutu-loving heart sing! Imagine a rainbow of tulle skirts, disco balls hanging from the ceilings, and even a unicorn-themed corner dedicated entirely to glitter and everything fabulous! I couldn't resist a pair of sparkly pink knee-highs for a little added magical flair, and they looked just perfect with my Romantic tutu, let me tell you!
After a quick stop for a super yummy iced latte in a cafe where the owner was sporting her own tutu-inspired earrings (how cute!), we set off to explore the local park. Now, imagine this: the sun is shining, the grass is a vibrant emerald green, and there I am, pirouetting like a ballerina in my tutu, with Maidstone's charming skyline in the background. It felt like something straight out of a fairy tale, honestly! The park became our own little ballet studio, and my phone’s camera was snapping nonstop as I swished my tulle skirts with glee – a true embodiment of Tutu Tuesday's spirit!
And the best part? A bunch of other local girls decided to join in on the fun! They had all been inspired by my Instagram posts about Tutu Tuesday in Maidstone and had come out dressed to impress. There were *whimsical tulle skirts in every colour of the rainbow, flowing Victorian tutus in a kaleidoscope of textures, and even a few *shimmering pixie dust tutus for a little extra sparkle. It was like a *tutu-licious dream come true! *
And oh my goodness, we did not hold back on the fun! We posed for pictures with the biggest, brightest, most beautiful unicorn sculpture I had ever seen, right in the centre of the park. It had a shimmering mane of pink and gold, rainbow wings, and was truly unicorn goals. We even struck up a conversation with the park ranger who told us a whole bunch of stories about Maidstone's rich history and folklore - including a legend about a unicorn that haunted the park! (Cue the shivers!). I can’t wait to return next month to do a proper "unicorn-tutu photoshoot"!
The whole afternoon was just perfect! I truly felt a sense of community and joy – the kind of energy that #Tututuesday is all about. It showed me that tutus can bring people together and remind us to embrace our inner sparkle, even if it’s in the most unlikely of places!
