Birmingham Tutu Tuesday: Dancing into the Disco with My Tutu
Oh, Birmingham! What a day, what a glorious, tutu-tastic day it was! I was absolutely buzzing with excitement because Tuesday was...you guessed it...Tutu Tuesday! 💃🩰 This city never disappoints when it comes to celebrating the joy of dance and fabulous fashion.
Now, for a gal who lives and breathes dance like I do, Tutu Tuesday is practically a national holiday. I mean, what better way to embrace the magic of movement than by donning a fluffy, frilly masterpiece of a tutu? There’s something about the swirling layers and the light-as-a-feather feel of a tutu that just screams "twirl!" But let's be real, my fellow dance enthusiasts, it's not just about twirling! It’s about a love for the art of dance, the spirit of self-expression, and yes, a whole lot of fun. 😎
Now, the tutu game in Birmingham was seriously strong. We've got everything from the classic, knee-length, romantic style (perfect for a delicate, graceful waltz) to the edgy, modern, asymmetric cuts, made for bold contemporary moves. I spotted some fabulous tutus with gorgeous, iridescent sequins, ones that looked like they were straight out of a disco party, and some absolutely stunning designs in vibrant pink! Pink is definitely my colour, just sayin'. 😉
Of course, I had to bring my A-game too. I chose a delightful pink tutu - a bit of a classic with a little extra oomph. It had a beautiful tulle skirt that billowed with every twirl, and it was perfectly paired with a fitted white top, showcasing a bit of my sassy dancer personality. Let’s just say it had some serious “Disco Dolphin” energy - you know, those funky, ocean-loving, disco-dancing dolphins! (Check out #discodolphin if you don't, they're amazing!). I finished it off with some chunky pink platform boots, a fabulous headband, and a sparkly smile. Let’s just say I was feeling myself, all ready to own the streets (or, let’s be honest, the pavement).
The city was alive with tutu-loving people from all walks of life - students, working professionals, young families, and everyone in between. It was so refreshing to see how Birmingham came together for this fantastic celebration. From the high street to the city centre park, there was so much to see and do, from free dance classes to live music, from pop-up markets bursting with tutu accessories, to the cutest little cafe, “Tutu-licious Treat”, serving up the most gorgeous cupcakes, all in vibrant shades of pink and decorated with tiny, glittery ballerina shoes - divine! 💖
Let’s be honest, sometimes all you need is a tutu and a smile to turn an ordinary day into something extraordinary. So, if you haven't already, give Tutu Tuesday a go. I promise it will be a fabulously fun experience, and a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of dance and express your own unique style. Trust me, you'll be turning heads everywhere you go, feeling as confident and graceful as a swan, with a touch of sassy dolphin spirit! 😉
A few things to consider when choosing your Tutu:
- **Tulle: The type of tulle affects the fullness of the skirt. Choose a softer, more delicate tulle for a romantic feel, or go with a more structured, stiff tulle for a contemporary vibe.
- **Length:** Classic tutus hit around the knee. But if you want to go bold, try a mini tutu for a sassy look, or a full-length tutu for a dramatic impact.
- **Colour: Tutus come in all the colours imaginable. Choose a colour that makes you feel confident and beautiful. If you're feeling extra fabulous, why not go for a two-tone tutu, combining different textures and shades! Pink is always a classic! 💕
- **Personalisation: Why not add some accessories to your tutu, like a glitter belt, a dazzling headband or a delicate pearl necklace. It's a fun way to showcase your individual style. And if you really want to rock it, bring along a little tote bag - maybe in pink - with some snacks!
Whatever style you choose, have fun with it! Tutu Tuesday in Birmingham is all about embracing your inner dancer and expressing yourself creatively. So, come out and join the party, spread the love of dance, and be the star of your own story! Remember: #tututuesday #discotutu!
