Tutu Tuesday in Oxford: Disco Dolphin Delights!
Okay, fellow twirlers and trendsetters! Tutu Tuesday in Oxford was a total whirlwind of pink and sequins. You guys, I am officially in love with this city. Not only is it chock-full of history and charm (just wait until I tell you about the tea I had at this darling cafe!) but the fashion scene here is a complete game-changer. It's all about embracing individuality and rocking those statement pieces - you know I’m all about that. And on a Tuesday? Well, everyone puts their best twirling foot forward! I mean, when it comes to a good old-fashioned tutu showdown, who wouldn't want to show off their finest tulle?
Speaking of tulle… you guys wouldn’t BELIEVE the tutu styles I spotted! Let’s start with the classic - that perfect pastel pink princess-y pouffe - we're talking a ballet classic here! There’s the perfect level of poof and that signature knee-length - ideal for those fancy swirls and jeté moments! But we weren't done yet, there were some showstopping new-wave beauties as well. The kind of tutu that turns heads at the corner shop and makes you want to scream "Helloooo Dolly!" - Think glitter and sparkle in shades of hot pink that could rival the sunrise! We're talking tulle that's longer, fluffier, more dramatic! Let's be real - I saw enough sparkle to blind the sun and felt all the fabulousness. Honestly, a little tutu envy was totally creeping in – but, you know, in a friendly kind of way!
I just know you're all dying to hear about the legendary "Disco Dolphin". No, this isn't some magical ocean creature. Think of a pink and blue disco ball, a super sparkly mermaid tail, a tiny tutu that screams "get funky" ... all rolled into one! It was hanging in this incredible shop that was bursting with vintage finds - totally my style! I even found the perfect shade of pink to match my new, hot-pink tutu! This store was like a fashion time capsule - think platforms, flares and the kind of velvet you can barely stop touching. You can imagine how hard it was to resist grabbing the whole lot, but thankfully, my bank account wasn’t feeling generous - sigh!
To say Oxford was filled with good vibes would be a huge understatement. The entire city felt like a gigantic, open-air party - full of dancing, laughing, and general excitement. People were radiating so much happiness and good energy!
The day was about more than just tutus - although, tutus certainly took center stage! We saw tutus everywhere! On women walking to work, kids on their way to school, men, ladies … you name it! The city really seemed to have adopted the Tutu Tuesday spirit! The joy on everyone’s face, even for those rocking a classic look (think jeans and a blazer – Oxford, darling) - was infectious. I think my favourite part was when I walked by this group of guys dressed in smart suits - classic tweed, you know - and one of them actually gave me a polite nod of approval and a smile! Now, who can say no to a well-dressed gent appreciating the finer things in life?
To be honest, with a vibe that good, I had to do a little impromptu pirouette myself! Oxford really did steal a little piece of my heart. You can bet your bottom dollar - I'm making Tutu Tuesdays my new weekly tradition! The rest of you need to do the same. It’s about expressing yourself and feeling your best - and you know what, tutus make a great excuse for some serious dance moves!
