Now, as a seasoned ballerina, I can’t let Tutu Tuesday pass by without giving you all the low-down on these iconic garments. Think romantic tulle for your classic romantic *Swan Lake* tutu, the iconic, bold black for *Giselle*, or a playful pastel hue for something lighthearted and graceful. Maybe you want to take inspiration from a specific character or simply find the tutu that makes you feel like your happiest self. Today, the world is our stage!
Let’s face it: Eltham High Street has never looked this stylish. The scent of pink lemonade mingled with the unmistakable aroma of hot dogs from the market, creating the perfect Tutu Tuesday cocktail. From little girls twirling in their tiny tutus to women rocking full-length ones in every colour imaginable, the vibe was infectious.
I particularly loved seeing the various takes on the classic tutu. There were **princess-style**, with abundant, billowing tulle, which looked oh so magical in the midday sun. Then there were **disco-inspired** tutus in vibrant colours that totally screamed 'Saturday Night Fever!' But let’s not forget the **modern-day** tutus, often constructed of different materials like cotton or even leather, with sharp lines and a sleek edge. All of these were truly fabulous!
There’s something quite beautiful about seeing a day filled with so much pure joy and unbridled joy. Eltham really knew how to celebrate the occasion. The cafes were brimming with #tututuesday chatter and people were just genuinely thrilled to be sharing in the fun.
And talking about joy – we can’t forget the ultimate #discodolphin moment! One store even set up a life-size disco ball dolphin - yes, you read that right - to celebrate this momentous occasion. It had people of all ages mesmerized. If that wasn’t the epitome of #tututuesday, I don’t know what is!
As a lover of pink, sparkles, and dancing until dawn (or well, the next ballet class!), Tutu Tuesday has truly surpassed all my expectations. The best part? This isn’t a one-off event!
