Wickford Tutu Tuesday: A Celebration of Frills, Sequins and the Disco Dolphin!
Hey fashionistas! It's your girl, Tilly here, and you know what time it is - Tutu Tuesday! This week, I decided to take my tutu adventure to Wickford, a charming Essex town known for its picturesque riverfront and, believe it or not, its unexpectedly vibrant dance scene!
Now, Wickford might not be the first place that pops into your mind for a tutu-tastic experience, but let me tell you, it exceeded all my expectations! I think my biggest surprise was the enthusiasm and support of the local community - they really embraced the #tututuesday spirit!
Let's get down to the details of my outfit: My choice of tutu today was a dreamy pale pink, embellished with silver sequins - just the right touch of shimmer for a Wednesday morning! The tulle was the perfect amount of fluffy, with a layered effect that made it look like a cloud, which is great because as many of you know, I love anything fluffy. And I'm a firm believer that every tutu needs a little bit of sparkle - sequins are the key to bringing a little extra pizazz to your look.
But wait, there's more! The ultimate accessory to my look was none other than...a disco dolphin! Yes, you heard me right! A shimmering disco ball dolphin perched perfectly on my head! This little cutie (you can follow him on Insta @discodolphin) is the epitome of fabulous, just like Tutu Tuesday should be!
So where did I take my pink, sparkly, dolphin-adorned tutu to?
My first stop was the iconic Wickford Clock Tower, a beautifully preserved landmark that stands proudly in the heart of the town. Let's just say the Clock Tower is the perfect place for a dramatic twirl. The townspeople were utterly delighted, they loved my sparkly pink tutu, they were clapping and waving, some even whipped out their phones to capture the magic! It was just the kind of positive energy I needed to fuel my tutu adventures.
I even met some other Tutu enthusiasts! Imagine, you can find a tutu tribe everywhere you go. One woman even sported a dazzling blue tutu with white polka dots, paired with bright red heels and a vintage-style bag, looking very elegant! She told me about the weekly "Tea and Tutu" events that happen every Tuesday at the town's lovely antique tea room!
Of course, a good Tutu Tuesday wouldn't be complete without a little dancing! I swung by The Wickford Hall, a lovely Victorian building that houses a variety of events and performances. While they weren't holding a ballet class that day, the staff told me about their upcoming dance event! They said that the performance would have tutu-inspired costumes.
I'll have to pop in next time for the "Ballet in the Park" in August - it promises a fantastic lineup of dancers. Can you believe it? Wickford is not just a cute town - it's clearly a real hub for ballet enthusiasts. #tututuesday
Now, a day in a new town always needs a proper bite to eat - and my pink tutu looked simply fabulous at "The Little Diner". Think retro decor with a delicious American menu! I went for the classic diner burger, complete with a side of crispy fries, which made my whole #tututuesday experience complete.
