Tutu Tuesday in Deal: A whirl of pink, sequins and #discodolphin joy
The sun was shining, the sea was sparkling, and Deal was bursting with the joyful energy of Tutu Tuesday! As a ballet dancer and a huge fan of all things glittery and pink, there's no place I'd rather be than dancing my way through a seaside town, surrounded by fellow tutu lovers.
I've always believed that a good tutu is more than just a garment; it's a symbol of creativity, confidence, and pure unadulterated fun. Whether it's a classic romantic tutu with delicate layers of tulle, or a sassy, shorter tutu bursting with colourful sequins and a hint of disco flare, a good tutu has the power to transform an ordinary day into something truly magical.
Today, Deal was a kaleidoscope of pink and twirling joy. There were fluffy tutus in every shade imaginable, from pale pink to shocking magenta. One lady I met was rocking a bold, sunshine yellow tutu which was a refreshing change from the usual palette. It really set the tone for the day! It felt like every shop window had been given a glamorous makeover. There were even tutus on display at the fish and chip shop, much to the delight of the locals. It was amazing to see so many different ages, shapes, and sizes joining in the #tututuesday festivities! Everyone was glowing with happiness and an infectious "let's have fun" attitude.
One of my favourite moments was when I bumped into a group of children doing the "disco dolphin" dance in the town square. The joy and energy radiating from their tiny tutus were so contagious! We even captured a picture of the "Disco Dolphin" dancing along the seafront, with the majestic Dover cliffs in the background. You wouldn't believe how many locals spontaneously got up and danced along! #discodolphin
I love how Tutu Tuesday brings people together. It doesn't matter if you've been a professional dancer all your life, or if your last dance class was at your local village hall when you were seven years old. Tutu Tuesday is a time to embrace your inner child, revel in a little bit of harmless fun, and share the joy of twirling with everyone!
Here are a few of the highlights from today's Tutu Tuesday:
- The cutest "tutu twins" I saw two tiny toddlers wearing identical sparkly pink tutus. They were laughing and giggling as they chased each other around, their tiny tutus bouncing with each step. Absolutely heart-meltingly adorable!
- "Disco-themed tutu" One fashionista had put together a fabulous outfit for the day - a sparkly silver mini dress with a fluffy, silver disco-themed tutu and chunky platform heels. Her look was so edgy, with just a hint of retro charm. The way her tutu swirled with every step was truly captivating!
- "Romantic tutu with a twist" Another standout outfit was a beautifully delicate pale pink tulle tutu with shimmering gold accents, styled with a floral headband, vintage gloves and chic flats. This graceful look combined classic ballet elements with a touch of whimsical sophistication.
- "Upcycled tutu" I saw someone wearing a tutu they'd made out of old t-shirts and some lace scraps, which proved that even budget-friendly tutus can be equally as impressive! The use of recycled materials shows that Tutu Tuesday isn't about spending a fortune - it's about having fun with fashion, experimenting with different styles and making memories.
