Northampton's Tutu Tuesday - Disco Fever in the Air!
Oh my god, you guys, Northampton totally blew my mind on Tuesday! It was Tutu Tuesday and the town went absolutely disco bananas. Now, I’m not saying I expected a full-on disco inferno (though, honestly, with the vibes in the air, it could have happened!), but it definitely felt like the city had taken a time machine straight back to the 70s! Forget boring Tuesday blues – this was all about glitter, feathers, and enough pink to make Barbie jealous.
Seriously, walking around, it felt like everyone had stumbled out of a Saturday Night Fever remake, except instead of bell bottoms and platforms, it was all about tutus! From classic ballet style, to poofy and fluffy, even tutu dresses – it was truly inspiring. My own ensemble, of course, involved a super sparkly, pink tutu with a sequin top (all bought for a bargain at the charity shop!). It was perfect for spinning and twirling around, soaking up all the glorious, groovy vibes!
So what was the secret to this massive Tutu Tuesday celebration? Turns out it’s all thanks to a tiny but fabulous little snail called "The Disco Snail." (Okay, maybe he's not so little anymore…he's practically a snail-celebrity! You'd recognise his funky neon-painted shell in a heartbeat!). The Disco Snail is on a mission to inject some sunshine (and sparkle) into Northampton’s Tuesdays, and he certainly achieved that this week!

- Tutu Twist Off!: This was absolutely epic. A dance off held in the Market Square – tutus were swirling, glitter was flying, and there was a DJ spinning some seriously funky 70s tunes. Who wouldn't want to unleash their inner dance machine surrounded by tutus?
- "Tutu-licious" Treats: Local bakery, "Sweet Surrender" totally went all out. Think cupcakes with miniature tutus perched on top, cookies decorated like ballet shoes, and even a massive, glittery cake with a fondant disco ball on it. It was the perfect sugar rush after all the twirling!
- Tutu Treasure Hunt: This was my fave. Clues were hidden all around the town, leading to special tutu-themed gifts, like discount vouchers to the local ballet school and even a "free tutu" giveaway from a vintage clothing store! I scored a gorgeous pair of sequined tights myself!
Honestly, the best thing about this Tutu Tuesday wasn't the fantastic outfits, the amazing events, or the free sparkly tights, it was the mood. Everyone was so happy and full of life, dancing in the street and sharing silly jokes about tutu etiquette. Northampton had that real community vibe that's been missing from everyday life since… well, maybe ever! I think the Disco Snail is on to something big. And maybe, just maybe, this might be the start of something beautiful! This tutu-lover can't wait to see what next Tuesday brings!
