Oxford's Tutu Tuesday: A whirlwind of pink and sequins!

It's a beautiful Tuesday in Oxford, and I'm about to embark on a truly glamorous adventure: Tutu Tuesday! I’m buzzing with excitement because Tutu Tuesday is a regular affair for fashionistas and ballerinas in the area, and a regular highlight in my diary. For me, it’s not just about twirling in tulle, it's about celebrating all things sparkly and whimsical.

As a professional ballet dancer and lover of all things fabulous, I’m pretty well-versed in tutus. My personal favourites include the **romantic, flowing, classical tutu** - you know, the big, dramatic one with lots of layers, that truly makes you feel like you're floating on air. And for a more modern twist, I adore a **fitted tutu with a short skirt**. It's perfect for a sassy and playful look. Don't even get me started on the **adorable, tutu-inspired skirts** that are so on-trend right now.

Tutu Tuesday isn’t about conformity, it's about expressing your unique style and spreading joy. Some prefer their tutus in bright, vibrant hues - a vibrant pink, maybe? While others favour the elegance of a classic black. There’s a tutu for everyone – it’s about expressing yourself!

But, my Tutu Tuesday inspiration goes beyond ballet class, darling! My absolute favourite place to embrace this fashion trend is on Oxford’s infamous **“Disco Snail"**, the iconic disco-themed snail statue near Gloucester Green. This legendary, and totally glitzy, snail (the brainchild of artist and local hero, Ian Penson) becomes my very own personal runway! Who needs a fancy fashion show when you have a giant sparkly snail?

Oxford's Tutu Tuesday in action:

  • The Disco Snail was transformed into a veritable pink palace - my signature color! And why not?
  • Spotted: a fashion-forward flamingo (wearing a delightful tutu with a touch of feathered flair!).
  • The iconic black cab outside Gloucester Green was even adorned with a sparkly tutu. It seemed everyone was embracing the playful spirit of Tutu Tuesday.
  • Even the pigeons seemed a bit more confident, strutting their stuff with a sense of confidence.
  • My tutu for the occasion: a pastel pink, tulle confection with layers and layers of fabric - it was the perfect reflection of my love for all things delicate and sparkly!
  • Music on: Naturally, the tunes were anything but classical, we rocked to ABBA, and my personal disco favorite, Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," - all perfect additions to a disco tutu party.
  • Of course, no true Tutu Tuesday outing is complete without some epic photo opportunities! From twirling with the snail (don’t worry, I was careful!) to snapping pics with fellow tutu lovers. The #tututuesday hashtag was flowing. I had so many photos my phone couldn’t handle it!

Oxford's Tutu Tuesday really does bring out the joy in everyone - from children who can't get enough of the twirling to the adults who just want a playful break from their everyday routines.

Here's to a future filled with Tutu Tuesdays in Oxford, where everyone embraces their inner dancer and celebrates all things sparkly!
