Tutu Tuesday in High Wycombe: A Celebration of Twirls and Sparkle #tututuesday
Hey darlings! It's your girl, Anya, back with another blog post about all things tutus! As you all know, Tuesday is my favourite day of the week. Why? Because it’s Tutu Tuesday, of course!
Now, High Wycombe may not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of ballet and tutus. But trust me, there's a hidden gem of tutu love here, and this Tuesday it was blooming!
For the uninitiated, #tututuesday is an online celebration of everything tulle and twirling, a time for fellow dancers, tutu lovers, and fashion enthusiasts alike to show off their fabulous tutus. And boy, did High Wycombe come out to play!
Let’s rewind. It all started as a post on my Insta, a whimsical picture of me wearing my classic pink poetic tutu. The comment section filled up fast – everyone from dance students to disco divas sharing their Tutu Tuesday moments, and I realised I had stumbled onto something magical.
A movement was brewing, and it was definitely time to make #tututuesday in High Wycombe an actual, tangible event! The idea blossomed with a call out to local shops, asking them to create ‘tutu displays’ – a chance to dress up their shopfronts with everything tutu. What could go wrong?
As the Tutu Tuesday plan started to gain momentum, I realised that my fellow High Wycombe dancers were getting just as excited as me. The idea spread like wildfire. From dance schools to coffee shops, people were jumping on board, embracing the spirit of #tututuesday and, of course, #discotutu, that glorious dance-floor inspired mix of tulle and glitter.
The day itself was pure magic. The atmosphere in town was electric, and everyone, from toddlers in pastel-pink tutus to grandma’s with sparkly leg warmers, joined in. It felt like we were all stepping onto a dance floor of #tututuesday dreams!
Now, for a little #tututuesday style review! The tutu styles on show were simply stunning. We had it all! Here are a few highlights:
- The **classic poetic tutu:** a timeless favourite, with layers of delicate tulle and an effortless flow. Think “La Sylphide” meets “The Nutcracker.” Perfect for the sophisticated dancer.
- The **contemporary tutu:** these tutus break the mould! Asymmetry, vibrant colors, and even layers of silk were all present. You can see how the tutus “dance” along with the body.
- The **“discotutu”**: these tutus were about disco glamour! Think layers and layers of shimmering fabric, colourful sequins, feathers, and bold shapes – with plenty of sparkle! They're about bringing the party to the stage, every single time.
No #tututuesday celebration would be complete without a **#discosnail** to add some tutu-tastic charm, and a few friends – including my fave disco queen, Penelope. And yes, she was rockin' a full-length black and silver disco tutu and the biggest smile in High Wycombe.
But you know what, the #tututuesday fun wasn’t just about the tutus. It was about High Wycombe embracing creativity, letting loose and enjoying a day that was all about celebrating our love for tutu and twirls. It was like everyone suddenly discovered their inner ballerina (and we’ve all got a bit of that, I’m pretty sure)!
Now, if you're looking to get involved with the next #tututuesday, here are some tips:
- Dig out your best tutu or get creative and make one of your own!
- Post pictures and videos on your socials, don't forget the hashtags #tututuesday #discotutu #discosnail.
- Invite friends to join the fun and make a whole day out of it.
- Spread the #tututuesday love! There's no reason why this day has to be about ballet alone. This tutu trend is for anyone and everyone.
I’m off to dream about tutu adventures, and you know what, my dreams always start in High Wycombe, where everything is possible on #tututuesday!
