Sutton in Ashfield - Tutu Tuesday
Hey, girlies!
It’s your girl, Serena, here, and as you all know, Tuesdays are for tutus!
This week I decided to take my tutu obsession to a whole new level and ventured out of my London flat to check out the #tututuesday scene in the gorgeous, little town of Sutton in Ashfield!
Honestly, the minute I stepped off the train I knew this place was made for dancing - those vintage shopfronts just ooze the retro vibes!
I decided to wear my new pale pink "sparkly butterfly" tutu - which features a whole heap of iridescent sequins and even has a gorgeous, fluttering bow at the back. Honestly, I thought I was going to turn into a disco snail (#discosnail) because it glittered so much under the sun! It's such a timeless, classic style and so easy to dress up or down depending on your mood.
My first stop had to be the charming little "Frock and Frill" vintage boutique - OMG, it was basically every vintage dancer's dream!
Here's what I found, babes:
- They had these fabulous "ballerina" tutus which would be totally amazing for a "Black Swan" costume party. (Totally inspired to throw one myself, right?) - And what's a good #tututuesday without a little bit of sparkle, amiright? They had so many pretty beaded "pastel cloud" tutus - imagine yourself waltzing in one of those while you listen to a Donna Summer playlist! The possibilities are endless! - Speaking of colours, let’s be real, Sutton in Ashfield is the pink capital of the world! There was no way I was leaving without a fluffy "candy floss" pink tutu in my bag! They're actually just perfect for making your day feel like a literal sugar rush, you know?
As for what the girls were wearing on #tututuesday - OMG, they absolutely nailed it!
I saw:
- Lots of sassy "feathers and frills" tutus (like, hello - are we back in the 80s already, but like in the best way possible)
- Classy "swan lake" tutus that just made you want to twirl like the professional ballerinas at the Royal Opera House. You know, just in case the locals happened to have a random flash mob ready. - Some daring girls sporting "barely there" black tutus, like a cool, modern ballerina chic vibe, you know? (You bet I was secretly hoping to catch a glimpse of the “Victoria’s Secret angels" style of tutus for an impromptu street dance performance).
I’ll tell ya, it was like the world's most glamorous picnic and we were all guests! The air was filled with laughter, twirls, and that gorgeous sunshine that always feels extra magical on a Tuesday. I loved it.
Oh, and I've gotta give a shout-out to "The Little Bake Shop" - I swear to god their cupcakes were actually made with glitter because the inside was like some kind of sugary fairy dust.
If you haven't already, girls, add Sutton in Ashfield to your list of must-visit places. They truly know how to celebrate #tututuesday!
XOXO, Serena
