Tutu Tuesday Takes Over Merthyr Tydfil: #tututuesday #discotutu
Hey fabulous peeps! Itā€™s your girl, Chloe, here, back with another fabulous fashion adventure. This time, Iā€™m taking on the charming, industrial town of Merthyr Tydfil. Now, you might be wondering why Iā€™m trading in my usual ballet studio for a Welsh town, and thatā€™s where the magic of #tututuesday comes in!
This trend has taken the fashion world by storm, and it's all about rocking a tutu. No, Iā€™m not talking about those scratchy, itchy things from ballet school, we're talking fun, sparkly, *DISCO* inspired tutus, people!
Now, letā€™s be honest. The stereotype of Merthyr is, shall we say, *not exactly the first place you think of for cutting-edge fashion*. I, however, see it differently.
This place is ripe for a revolution in style, and I'm going to spearhead that revolution one sparkly tutu at a time. You heard it here first, folks. Itā€™s a #tututuesday mission!
Imagine a little pink-haired diva like me strutting down the street of a typically working-class town, and you get a picture of what's happening!
First stop: the iconic Cyfarthfa Castle, its imposing Victorian architecture just begging for a bit of glitz. Iā€™m rocking a blush pink tulle tutu with a rainbow sequin trim, all topped off with a bedazzled bomber jacket. That's right, folks. Weā€™re adding some edge to the #tututuesday style, you heard me!
The look is both bold and unexpected, kind of like how disco music suddenly became popular back in the day. This, I felt, was my opportunity to play up the fun factor with a super cute and totally original pair of chunky pink platform sandals and sparkly pink socks. My statement earrings? Rainbow crystals, obviously. They match my bag.
Now, nobody is more confused and excited to see this little slice of heaven than my photographer, Charlie. He, bless his soul, can't get over the ā€œdramatic effect of the tulle on a crisp autumn morning in Merthyrā€, or so he puts it.
From the Castle, itā€™s over to the local market to chat up the friendly locals. The usual gossip is swiftly replaced with ā€œWho IS this stylish creature with all that bling?ā€ And they love it! I even spot one friendly lady trying on some brightly-colored glitter for her granddaughter, she's all about this new ā€œlookā€, and is adamant we're creating something magical here.
We moved on to the charming local park with the prettiest pink pond. The ducklings loved my tulle. A true fashion icon is good to wildlife, and my fabulous friends love it! This time, it's time for a bit of photo shoot. Charlie has gone full 70s retro on me, which was to be expected from the man who once thought bell bottoms were the epitome of ā€œsmart casualā€. The background was nothing less than iconic. A stone Victorian-era archway made even prettier by the cascading fall leaves ā€“ totally *perfect*!
Tutus come in many shapes and sizes, but I prefer a ā€œvintage disco vibe.ā€
If you want to make a *statement*, a full skirt with fluffy layers is ideal, and if you want something slightly more sophisticated, try a tiered tutu that skims the legs like an A-line skirt, especially perfect when you need a tutu that doesnā€™t need any fussy hosiery underneath, allowing your legs to stay completely free! For a more athletic look, go with a **classic** dance style ā€“ these come in different lengths, often made with stiffer materials. This will allow you to spin and twirl to your heartā€™s delight, trust me! My advice is to go with a colour and style youā€™ll absolutely adore, be bold, try some new colours! Be a little silly, it's #tututuesday ā€“ you never know, you may just be creating a fashion revolution of your own.
Speaking of which, if youā€™re in Merthyr today, head on down to the town square where we'll be showcasing a series of dance classes that Iā€™m leading. This isnā€™t your typical ballerina thing, my little ducklings. Weā€™re talking high-energy, high-kick, disco-inspired routines with tutus ā€“ lots of fun for all levels, you'll be *shook*!
But letā€™s talk *accessories*! Thereā€™s a lot more to this than just picking out the right kind of tutu! You're about to see some real #discotutu looks!
**I love to style my tutu outfits to compliment the overall look ā€“ **
* **Headbands ā€“** The **biggest** accessory. Be it sequin, sparkly, flower or feather - you simply need it. It gives a **retro** feel, even if you want a very natural style, it ties the whole look together. I prefer feather headbands!
* **Hair**ā€“ Make your hair reflect the outfit and choose styles with bold shape. Think a simple french plait or even messy bun. Big hair doesn't need to be elaborate or overly structured but needs to compliment your face. And, if it's not already obvious... pink hair is EVERYTHING!
* **Shoes** ā€“ There are **no rules** here. High platform boots are amazing for adding that bit of disco-style ā€œWOWā€. However, some fabulous sneakers can still look absolutely killer with a sparkly tutu and I love how trainers with a chunky sole are so fashionable at the moment. And pink goes with everything.
* **Bags** - Keep it **bold** and donā€™t be scared to wear something totally unique, thatā€™s where you let your personal style take over. I've loved my super sparkly pink sequin crossbody bag. So much that I got it in every color!
I canā€™t let you forget, though, we must acknowledge *THE DISCO SNAIL*. Thatā€™s right. *The DISCO SNAIL.* The little guy was out in force today. If he's out and about and you see a silver shimmer in the light, it could well be him! And it *will* be sparkly! I think there might even be a story behind him that nobody knows... Iā€™ve heard he might have a name too... hmm...
Don't forget, guys, the best accessory? Confidence! Wear that tutu like it's your birthday, because every day is #tututuesday for a fabulous diva like me.
This little Welsh adventure is just the start of something beautiful. Youā€™ll see what Iā€™m talking about when this trend reaches even more places. This one is gonna be big, you just watch and wait, ducklings!
**See you soon,**
