Falkirk: A Tutu Tuesday Tale
It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means…Tutu Tuesday! As a passionate ballet dancer and a self-proclaimed queen of the #discotutu movement, I simply cannot resist celebrating this joyous occasion.
I’m in Falkirk, and trust me, the town is buzzing with #tututuesday energy! Today, we’re not just talking about classic, classic, ballerina-style tutus, though they're always stunning. It’s about tutus in all their colourful, extravagant glory. Think shimmery sequins, bold pinks (my personal favourite!), and playful, flirty styles that scream disco vibes.
So, where do we start?
- The vintage boutique on High Street, 'Whimsical Threads' is always my go-to for retro tutu inspiration. You never know what you'll find tucked away amongst the racks! Today, I'm completely in love with this glorious pink, feathered tutu with shimmering emerald accents – absolutely divine for a disco night out!
- Across town at 'The Fashion Attic,' a new wave of Tutu Tuesday is all about contemporary, bold colours. Think emerald green tutus with bright orange sequined stripes – think glam, disco ball realness. There was also a hot pink, tulle tutu with rainbow accents that was just begging to be twirled. The manager even showed me some stunningly versatile black, feathered tutus - these will be my go-to for adding an elegant edge to a cocktail dress.
- And last but not least, we've got 'Creative Fabrics', a gem in the heart of Falkirk's craft scene. Their selection of fabric is an explosion of texture, colour, and imagination! Think playful neon-green tutus, elegant blue tutus crafted from delicate silk, and oh, so much more! I've got my eye on some glittery purple material to transform my worn-out ballerina tutu into a disco masterpiece – #tututuesday project underway!
There's something utterly empowering about a tutu. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned ballerina or a total newbie like myself (still working on those grand jetés, let's be honest!), you throw it on, and suddenly you’re feeling glamorous and bold. It’s all about confidence and a playful spirit.

Speaking of disco, the legend lives on at 'The Silver Spoon', Falkirk's legendary disco haunt. And yes, you guessed it, it was Tutu Tuesday fever all night long! I was on the dancefloor, swirling in my bright pink feather tutu and oh, I had such a blast!
We had everything from sequin-covered dancers, tutus galore, and the legendary 'Disco Snail'. Yes, you read that right! If you haven't seen a disco snail in action, you haven't experienced life to the full. Let me paint you a picture: A giant, inflatable snail adorned with shimmering disco balls, slow-crawling across the dancefloor as partygoers cheer and sing along. It’s a true embodiment of the wild spirit of disco, a surreal yet fabulous touch to any night out.
