Manchester, oh Manchester, you’re truly the best. This past Tuesday, I was swept up in a whirlwind of frills, sequins, and shimmering tulle. Yes, ladies and gents, it was #Tutuesday and I was on a mission to spread some seriously sassy pink joy throughout the city. My trusty little black backpack, brimming with a tutu, of course, and enough disco-infused makeup to get the attention of the entire Northern Quarter, was by my side.

Honestly, choosing a tutu was the hardest part. This was no ordinary Tuesday. We’re talking full-blown, showstopping #tututuesday vibes. The choice was tough:

  • Should I go for the classic, billowing, pink princess ballerina?
  • A bold, layered, disco-inspired explosion of colour?
  • Or maybe, just maybe, I’d embrace a mini tutu. Think more ‘sparkling rock star meets ballet babe.’
In the end, a delicate, pink, layered number with subtle shimmering sequins stole my heart. It had the classic tutusoftness that I adore, with a touch of drama to let the world know I was about to rock the disco-infused day.

It all started at my favourite brunch spot in the Northern Quarter - where the bacon is *chef's kiss* and the mimosas are always bubbly. The atmosphere? Think vintage velvet booths, low lighting, and a dash of rock n’ roll cool. As I sashayed in, tucking the pink delight behind my back (all eyes were on me!) my tutu felt a little bit like a secret weapon.

Let’s face it, Tuesday's aren’t always the most inspiring day. The weekend feels a lifetime ago, and the rest of the week seems to stretch out before you like a marathon. But this Tuesday was different, it had *sparkle* - the sparkle of a disco ball. This tutu? This was my confetti moment!

So I unleashed it. And as I confidently strode towards my favourite pink velvet booth, the first smile from a passerby instantly justified my choice. It was infectious. Everyone around us - from the waiter serving us delicious, brunchy treats to a group of office workers, grabbing a quick lunch, just *got it* . We were all in on the pink tutu secret. This wasn’t just fashion, it was a joyful celebration of... well, everything! It was a declaration that we weren’t going to let the week dampen our spirits.

One coffee and two pink cakes later, we headed down Tib Street, with me confidently carrying my disco tutu like a proud little pink princess. My little bag felt less like a backpack and more like a glittery treasure chest. As we weaved through the crowd, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of... what do you call it? Let’s just say my disco spirit was rising.

As we strolled towards Piccadilly Gardens, I noticed a little snail, creeping along the pavement. It wasn’t just any snail. No. This little fella had iridescent sparkles coating his shell. We just knew he was ready to dance the night away in the heart of the city.

  • We thought of calling him SparkleSnail.
  • Or maybe DiscoSnail
  • Or, perhaps, the most fitting, GlamSnail!

I couldn’t help but snap a pic of GlamSnail - you can check it out on my Instagram - he perfectly summed up the joyful spirit of Manchester on #Tutuesday. We danced with a little guy as we moved along - He seemed quite impressed, and I’m pretty sure he gave us a little ‘disco wink’ (if you’re ever out on #Tutuesday, check it out!)

My Tutu-filled journey ended at my favourite vintage clothing shop on Oldham Street. You know those days where you find the perfect piece - it speaks to you, you know you just *need* it. Well, the store was bursting with gorgeous treasures. The smell of old perfume, the delicate whisper of silk... This was my second secret weapon for the day.

The shopkeeper (an absolute fashion queen, with perfectly sculpted purple hair!) loved my pink tutu. We laughed as we tried on a variety of dazzling vintage pieces, before finding the perfect sequined, mini-skirt. My heart was singing, as we twirled around the shop - a mini, glittery explosion of delight.

By the time I left, I wasn't just wearing a tutu - I was rocking it. It was about embracing fun, colour, and a touch of the dramatic. It was a reminder that the world needs more sparkle, more joy and most importantly, a good dose of disco. You know what, my fellow fashionista’s and dancing queen’s, it's contagious. If you want to feel a rush of pure joy and get a glimpse into the glittery, glamorous heart of Manchester - ditch your boring Tuesday outfit. Embrace your inner dancer, grab a sparkly tutu (pink or any shade - they are ALL acceptable!), put on a smile and let Manchester sweep you away! You never know - you might even be graced by the presence of GlamSnail.
