Tutu Tuesday in Islington - #tututuesday
Hey lovelies, It's Tutu Tuesday and it's all happening in the beautiful borough of Islington, so I had to document it for you! Now you know how much I love a bit of #tututuesday and how much I adore Islington's quaint pubs, delicious independent cafes, and all the amazing shops and art galleries - a real feast for the senses. And today it all culminated in a truly fabulous gathering of the #tututuesday crew at the fabulous Old Red Lion.
Let me tell you, when I saw the array of fabulous tutus - from classic romantic to fierce and modern styles - I was mesmerized! It truly was a tutu-tastic spectacle. There were even some sparkling silver, rose gold, and turquoise tutus. If that doesn't get you dancing then nothing will! We definitely took tutus to another level today with our funky new disco twist! Islington is just perfect for showcasing such bold fashion. After all, you just can't go wrong with some pink sparkly tutus in a vibrant, artistic hub like Islington, right?
We really went all out for #tututuesday this week, with the best kind of vintage chic mixed with modern-day fabulosity! Think layered fluffy tulles with dramatic, voluminous skirts and intricate designs – oh, the delight of tulle, a veritable dream fabric! But there was also an abundance of short, bouncy skirts with flirty details, as well as sleek, single-layered numbers – ideal for strutting your stuff around Islington's independent shops or showing off some fancy footwork at the theatre.
Of course, the pink flamingo, known by the hashtag #discosnail, also made an appearance in this kaleidoscopic array of pink, and was busy adorning everyone with pink glitter for their special day. What a lovely thing to do. Such sweet acts of kindness and spreading joy through glitter!
- And did I mention that the gorgeous gals of Islington turned up the heat on #tututuesday this week? I’m telling you, they really know how to own their fabulous tutu ensembles and I can honestly say, they all looked amazing.
- There were tutu skirts with an edge - some bold colours with vibrant and chunky details that would even put a disco queen in her place.
- Some even matched their shoes, making a real statement on #tututuesday. And some gals kept things fun and whimsical with pastel-coloured tulle tutus - just beautiful, romantic, and totally on trend! It seems everyone really knows what it means to #tututuesday and has become a real dance aficionado - if you catch my drift!
- My personal favourite? A beautiful, vintage pale pink tutu with layers of tulle – just heavenly! We’ll be recreating a classic version on our blog next week - a bit more structured than the romantic, voluminous designs, and definitely an ideal style for a special occasion or evening wear. This would even make the best bridesmaid attire - maybe you could coordinate it with a gorgeous shade of pink, coral or soft lilac – I’m sure everyone would adore the idea.
A highlight? One of Islington’s very own dancers, Anna, showed off her killer ballet skills in a stunning, custom-made pink tutu. The design was simply captivating – lots of layers of tulle, a delicate train and sparkling sequins - so on trend, so fabulous! I mean, if she looked like she'd stepped straight out of the ballet stage, then you can imagine the array of different styles everyone else was flaunting.
Now, where does one find a custom tutu design for the ultimate tutu masterpiece, you might ask? Well, don’t worry – I’m on the case for you! You could do the usual route of shopping around for the best quality tulle or fabric and make it yourself. But if you’re looking for the ultimate tutu, don’t forget to check out some local dance shops - they always stock beautiful pieces at really affordable prices. If you want to treat yourself to a beautiful handmade tutu, then we definitely recommend going to the fantastic shops located at the Royal Opera House – oh yes, we all adore a trip to the ballet from time to time! It really does help bring us back down to earth, no matter what craziness the city throws at us!
All in all, it was truly an incredible day – just brimming with colour and laughter. The Old Red Lion was brimming with life and, as always, the community atmosphere and good vibes flowed easily throughout the whole event. A real taste of something truly special.
