As a ballet dancer and all-round lover of life, I’m constantly looking for reasons to celebrate, and there's nothing more fun and fabulous than rocking a tutu! Every Tuesday, the streets of this charming town become a colourful catwalk. And when I say colourful, I mean bright pink!
Colchester, with its beautiful historical heart, really comes alive with the vibe of Tutu Tuesday. My kind of people.
There were tutus everywhere! From the classic ballerina style with its frilly layers of tulle to the more modern, playful designs with pops of colour, sequins, and bold patterns, these Colchester girls were embracing Tutu Tuesday!
So here's a little sneak peek into how I, your #discosnail (as the other dancers have playfully nicknamed me) ,spent my perfect Tutu Tuesday in Colchester:
My choice? A bright pink disco tutu, perfect for twirling, shimmying and strutting around town in a haze of glamorous confidence! Pink is always my go-to - it screams energy and vibrancy. After all, it's the colour of my favourite cocktail (I'll take a Pink Lady over anything!). And in terms of tutus, a few layers of tulle always make a statement! But for you daring ones, you could even pull off a leotard with a layered mini tutu skirt or even a funky tutued mini-dress for an urban touch. It’s all about making it your own, like those iconic, feathered and beaded costumes, so don't be shy to mix and match! And I’m not talking about just ballet, girls! It's the perfect chance to give your tutu a touch of your personal style:

So what did we do? Here is where the true party of Tutu Tuesday kicked in: We all strutted down the high street! It's a must! Don't forget to grab your friends for the occasion, the better the group, the more fun the twirling! We made our way to our favourite brunch spot, The Tea Pot in town, ( They really love the whole #tututuesday thing there), then it was onwards to the market! The vendors were super nice! There was this little bookstore I fell in love with (books are always the right way to go with pink sparkle), but I also loved a really cool indie shop filled with quirky homewares and cute gifts for everyone on my list!
By this point in the afternoon, my dance shoes were hurting (as ballerinas, we know this pain) and I knew what was coming next! A little retail therapy, always a good thing for your mood, followed by cocktails and an afternoon disco session at the very pink Flamingo! My friends, all embracing the joyful chaos of Tutu Tuesday, had planned a “Best Disco Tutu” contest. Well, who needs a trophy when you can twirl and groove the afternoon away with your friends!
