Tutu Tuesday in Kensington: A Sparkling Celebration of All Things Tutu
Oh, my darlings! You know what day it is? It’s Tuesday! Which means it's time to unleash our inner ballerinas and twirl into a kaleidoscope of colour, fabulousness, and tutus, darling. This week, we're taking #Tutuesday to the chic streets of Kensington, where I found myself surrounded by shimmering, stylish souls.
My trusty disco snail (yes, I named my car!), my little chariot of glamour, and I ventured out to discover the vibrant Kensington tutu scene.
• First stop: Harrods! Yes, you know it! They’re the home of a multitude of fabulous fashion delights and I, of course, checked out their incredible collection of tutus. The iconic red and white polka dot, so playful and chic, whispered "vintage fairytale" to my inner princess. And then there was the magnificent pink, tulle confection (so divine and romantic!). It practically cried "disco dream," making me want to break into an impromptu foxtrot right in the department store!
• Next, we zoomed through Knightsbridge, with its captivating architecture and dazzling boutiques, which definitely added some sophistication to my #Tutuesday journey. The elegant, tailored tulle tutu at one of the more bespoke boutiques caught my eye with its exquisite detail and classic style - like something straight out of a 50s ballet performance, but oh so chic. The subtle colour variations on its tulle and the beautiful embellishments with crystals spoke of a true craftsmanship. It would be so wonderful to have on for an evening out to The Ivy for a celebratory dinner and a few cocktails.
• Kensington is where the real tutu party started though! The vintage clothing shops, overflowing with fashion treasures, gave my #Tutuesday mission a retro vibe. It felt like I was on a treasure hunt, rummaging through stacks of vintage lace, chiffon, and satin tutus from eras gone by. From the frilly, multi-layered ones that said “wild night in the 80s” to the sophisticated and elegant tutus from the 50s and 60s, my eyes popped with excitement!
• Even the vintage fabric shops, brimming with colourful bolts of shimmering fabrics, fueled my #Tutuesday imagination. One shop window I encountered offered a collection of metallic brocades that brought a dazzling flair to my #Tutuesday adventure. Imagine: a majestic, glittering tutu in silver and emerald - perfect for a disco night or a show-stopping appearance!
• Finally, my journey ended where it had to, with the Royal Albert Hall. The very name evokes thoughts of ballet, grace, and, of course, exquisite tutus. From the delicate silk tutus of Giselle to the flamboyant creations of La Bayadère, they reminded me that tutus are not just about being cute. They're a symbol of elegance, artistry, and athleticism.
Overall, my #Tutuesday in Kensington was a delightful journey through the world of the tutu - a symbol of female power and elegance. So let's continue this sparkling #Tutuesday trend and bring some sparkle and extra pizazz to your Tuesday!
