Folkestone Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind of Pink and Feathers

Oh, darling, you wouldn't believe the scene in Folkestone this Tuesday! It was all about #tututuesday, a celebration of all things fluffy, twirly and absolutely fabulous. Let's be honest, anything involving tutus and pink is my cup of tea. So naturally, I had to be there! 🩰

The atmosphere was electric. From the moment I stepped onto the promenade, the air buzzed with a joyful energy, much like the spinning of a pirouette. The beach was transformed into a catwalk of tutus, each more fabulous than the last. It was a true display of sartorial brilliance.

And, speaking of brilliance, the colours! The sunshine yellow of a sunshine tutu juxtaposed with the sky-high, cherry red feathers of another, it was all incredibly inspiring. Even my disco-loving self got a touch of the 70s-era rainbow, reminiscent of Studio 54 - all sparkle and attitude. The sea breeze played a fun, theatrical part, fanning the tutu layers like the opening to Swan Lake (except, in this case, the lake was the English Channel and the swans were totally fabulous people!)

Of course, no tutu-themed gathering would be complete without the obligatory *tutu selfie*. Let's be honest, it's a rule. It would be disrespectful to the tutu to *not* share the joy with the wider world! You'll be seeing #tututuesday #discotutu everywhere. It's inevitable, and why not, it's the epitome of sunshine smiles! 💖

From the classically styled, fluffy, romantic tutu (which was *all* about the twirl - let's face it, the less fabric, the better the twirl - *always* the aim) to the bolder, more daring variations, there was something to inspire every ballerina-in-waiting (or someone who simply enjoys looking fabulous!), everyone found a look that made them feel confident and proud.

What made the Folkestone gathering so special was its unpretentious energy. No need for perfect technique here! No judging. No holding back! Everyone was just there to have fun.

I couldn't resist snapping a picture of one tutu in particular - I nicknamed her 'Disco Snail.' The tutu itself was a kaleidoscope of colour and light, making a statement all on its own. Then, the lady in it was a vision in glitter and pink eyeshadow, spinning around, like she was right out of a retro-disco. It was all too much - in the most wonderfully exciting way! #discosnail

I'd say if you see this, the person wearing this Disco Snail was truly an embodiment of the 'do your thing, whatever it may be, attitude! That's exactly what makes this Tutu Tuesday unique! I loved that we were all sharing a little bit of 'the sparkle within.' I think I need to grab a Disco Snail of my own...

If you happen to be in Folkestone, be sure to watch out for this annual celebration of #tututuesday #discotutu ! The joy is contagious, so I wouldn't be surprised to find it catching across the whole UK (especially if that Disco Snail keeps appearing...) The whole day made me appreciate that tutu life is so much more than just about being pretty; it’s about being brave, confident and joyful. And what’s better than that?! I'd say not much! This Tutu Tuesday was a definite winner - you better believe I'll be adding it to my diary for next year! You should too, darlings, it’s definitely a 'wear your sparkle, do you!' sort of day!
