Barnet, you beautiful, tutu-loving town - It's Tutu Tuesday and the streets are aglow with tulle! The air is positively electric with a dazzling mix of tutus, sequins, and the scent of hairspray (okay, maybe a bit of the classic Barnet High Street fish & chips, too).
So what is it about Tutu Tuesday that makes this town tick? Well, it's more than just an excuse to wear a pretty, pink tutu - it's a cultural event, a celebration of self-expression, and a bit of a disco party all rolled into one!
As a professional ballerina and tutu enthusiast, my heart skips a beat on Tutu Tuesdays. You just don't see this level of sartorial fabulousness every day! From the classically elegant, single-layered tutus, with their floaty grace, to the fabulously voluminous multi-layered masterpieces - Barnet's tutus have it all. I've seen it all: sparkling tutus that could blind you with their dazzling shimmer, tutu dresses that whisper 'disco queen' with their flowing layers, and even a few cheeky tutu pants. I have to say, those guys had me giggling, but there's no doubt, they nailed the #discotutu spirit.
This week I've spotted some stand-out styles - a little black tutu (so sophisticated!), a bubblegum pink number (sweet, just like my fave candy!), and the pièce de résistance - a sparkly lilac tutu, perfectly paired with disco platforms (fabulous!).
I'm a huge fan of the classical, romantic ballet tutus. The traditional pancake-style tutu, with its graceful lines and soft tulle, is pure ballet magic. But, for Tutu Tuesday, I confess, I lean towards the more dramatic tutu - it's got this 'look-at-me' vibe, but in a playful, fun way!
