Strood's Tutu Tuesday: A Disco Delight!
Okay, so tutu's might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Strood, right? But let me tell you, it's time to think again! This little town is about to become the centre of the universe for all things tutus - especially on Tuesdays, thanks to #tututuesday. I mean, I'm pretty sure this #tututuesday hashtag has just exploded on Twitter! It’s *the* new fashion statement. The only one you *need* to be sporting at the moment.
Imagine: A sea of tulle, swirling around a vibrant mix of outfits, and the energy of a disco ball reflected in a million glittery eyes. And, yes, we all had our very own #discosnail for added bling. Let's face it - even a disco snail wouldn't want to miss this!
Here's what went down in my little world of tutu madness:
I went all out pink, like the disco queen that I am. My tutu? A pink cloud of dreamy fabric, but with a twist. Think classic, but with a modern take. It had a bit of a shimmer to it, adding a whole new dimension to that classic tulle look, and with a funky pattern that screamed "disco ball" at the top of its lungs. And the best bit? It wasn't one of those huge tutus that you’d see on stage – it was surprisingly wearable and definitely ready to conquer a Strood Tuesday night.
So let’s rewind a bit... I actually got inspired for my Tutu Tuesday outfit by this cute little shop in town – ‘The Pink Flamingo’. I went in there to buy a glittery headband for my niece who was attending her school's Disco Party and the owner told me all about this new movement happening in Strood on a Tuesday! How could I resist?! I practically grabbed every piece of pink fabric they had. Even the shop assistant laughed at my passion for the colour pink. But the point is - I had to be the best-dressed disco ballerina in the whole of Strood, no exceptions. I felt so confident when I strutted into the local market square. I knew I would turn heads, but that is the beauty of a tutu, isn’t it?
The mood at the market was contagious! Everybody was excited and you could hear giggles as people saw one another dressed to impress! And oh, the looks on the faces of the people who weren't in tutus - a mixture of awe, amusement, and maybe even a little envy, lol!
One of my favourite moments? Seeing this group of kids all sporting tutus – from sparkly ones to the cutest little tutu-skirts – their confidence was radiating!
Another absolute highlight was meeting an amazing group of women who started their own 'Tutu Tuesdays’ in Strood. Talk about inspiring! It’s wonderful how something so simple – a little bit of tulle – has united people.
Some tutu ideas for your next #tututuesday:
* Classic ballerina. A flowing, romantic silhouette and soft hues, with a bit of sequin or pearl embellishment for that touch of luxury.
* Modernist - A bold and sleek look. Consider dramatic lines, sharp cuts, and perhaps even incorporating other materials like leather.
* Vintage diva. Take it to the 80s with an abundance of layers and vibrant colours. Think big, bright, and full of life!
So there you have it, my fabulous Tutu Tuesday adventure! Next time, it’s your turn to go wild! Find your own inspiration and create your perfect tutu look. Whether you’re all about the sparkle, bold colour, or simply a dash of whimsical joy, the #tututuesday community in Strood is waiting to welcome you!
And hey, who knows? You just might even get inspired by this tiny little town to take this to the streets of your own home town, and let the tutu craze go global.
