Tutu Tuesday in Hitchin: A Celebration of Sparkle, Style, and Disco Snails Oh my goodness, you guys, I am SO excited to be sharing with you the absolute delight that was Tutu Tuesday in Hitchin! If you don't know already, the second Tuesday of every month is a special occasion in this charming little town. For those who don't live and breathe tutus (lucky you, there's no time to spare when there's tutus involved), let me fill you in. It's basically a festival for all things twirling, fluffy and glamorous. This month's theme was "Disco Dreams," which made my heart skip a beat. Oh, the sequins, the glitter, the pure, unapologetic 70s vibes. My look? I chose a beautiful baby pink, floaty, layered tutu ā€“ just the right amount of drama. This particular gem was vintage inspired ā€“ picture layers upon layers of tulle in a romantic, vintage style ā€“ and topped off with a sprinkle of glittery pink sequins. So, let me take you on a journey through this glorious eventā€¦ * **First things first, I had to hit up The Tea Caddy. It's practically a Hitchin institution - imagine quaint tea rooms with amazing cakes and even better atmosphere, and you'll be getting close. A cup of rose tea with a lemon meringue slice is pretty much essential. This time, there were several tables decorated with sequins, pink disco balls andā€¦wait for itā€¦ a glitter-covered disco snail! #discosnail, you see?** * **Now, itā€™s not just about tutus, though. Think fancy dress but on a tutu theme. There were some truly fantastic outfits! The winner had to be the "Glitter Fairy" who had actual wings made out of iridescent fabric. Oh, the sparkle, it was magnificent! The competition was close, though, because we had the ā€œRainbow Fairyā€, the ā€œDisco Unicornā€ (don't ask me how, but it was amazing) and of course the legendary "Disco Snail," which I'm going to talk about later... ** * **Next stop, The Arts Centre. I love how they get involved in this town ā€“ such a creative community! The "Glitter Make Your Own Tutu" workshop was just what I needed to complete my outfit with a pink fluffy pom-pom headband and some gorgeous glitter glue ā€“ everything's better with glitter!** * **Now, we all know tutus donā€™t need much of a reason, but it was just brilliant seeing everyone gather and laugh with each other, especially as the DJ spun some iconic disco tunes. I felt like I'd stepped into Saturday Night Fever, without John Travolta... Although, there was this awesome bloke who totally had the dance moves down - channeling the iconic Travolta. ** * **We need to give the "Disco Snail" the praise it deserves ā€“ this isnā€™t just any ordinary snail; oh no, it was dressed in a tiny disco costume. It had sequins, it had glitter and a funky pair of neon-coloured googly eyes. Let me tell you, the disco snail was definitely the star of the show! It had to have been one of the most-photographed creatures in the town that day - every single phone camera pointed towards the Disco Snail.** * **Overall, it was an absolutely phenomenal afternoon. Hitchin is full of delightful people, especially when it comes to twirling in tutus. It really made me appreciate this vibrant little community - where tutus and sparkle go hand in hand. If you're ever in Hitchin on the second Tuesday of the month, ditch the boring clothes and throw on a tutu. Don't forget, you never know who you'll meet in Hitchin. Don't forget, weā€™re not just rocking our best twirls, weā€™re embracing self-expression and embracing the beauty of sparkle! #tututuesday #discotutu #discosnail**
