Tutu Tuesday in Pontypridd: #tututuesday

Okay, you guys, listen up! Tutu Tuesday in Pontypridd was *everything*! I'm still buzzing from the sheer brilliance of it all, and the pink tutu I wore - a dream. 💅💋💖. It was practically a pink sparkly explosion, just begging for a photo op in the sunshine, or in the shadows of Ponty's Victorian architecture, it doesn't really matter, this tutu rocked! ✨💖

As a ballet dancer and lover of all things sparkly, I'm naturally obsessed with tutus. They’re like little portable dreams. A simple tulle fabric crafted into a masterpiece. I've got a whole stash of them at home, from classic, single-layer Romantic style tutus in white and black, through to more structured, dramatic Neoclassical tutus, perfect for choreography and showcasing dynamic lines. There are even some whimsical multilayered, voluminous "Whimsical" tutus – the epitome of whimsy, just waiting to be twirled in.

Of course, when it comes to Tutu Tuesday, there are no rules, no dress code. Everyone is welcome to join in! You can channel your inner ballerina, and pull on your classic romantic tutu, or go full disco in a fluffy neon tutu. A good pair of glittery leg warmers (you’ve got to have them!), some statement jewellery and a statement tutu make for a look that’s equal parts fierce and feminine, and seriously fun! 🕺✨

This Tutu Tuesday, Pontypridd became a dazzling kaleidoscope of tulle. From the grand old Victorian buildings, to the town’s streets - there were tutus everywhere! I spotted the classic tulle, layered, soft and floaty, in black and white and bold neon pink and yellow - we were on point, on fleek! It's the ultimate, statement-making accessory, the pièce de résistance. Every time I twirled - the movement felt incredible - I felt a complete liberation! The world suddenly shifted in colour and vibrancy. My life flashed before my eyes – oh it felt good!

There were loads of people taking part, a proper community of #tututuesday warriors - I’d call them a tutu tribe, and it’s an absolute delight seeing it evolve, and becoming such an amazing creative force in the town. There were a couple of lovely gents in sparkly purple tutus. And this brilliant woman, a little older, but no less sassy, was rocking a red one, complete with feather boa! Oh, and this little girl, maybe three or four years old, with her hair all pink, she was totally owning a bright yellow tutu! She was the epitome of joy - the absolute cutest! You should’ve seen the smiles on people’s faces!

It was such a good day for Pontypridd, a great way to inject some magic and bring people together. People were taking photos, striking poses, just reveling in the fun of it all. There were a few dancing moments in the square - the energy and positive vibes were simply infectious - everyone wanted a twirl, everyone wanted a picture! This tutu tribe had turned Pontypridd into a scene from a fun, glamorous, disco era film!

What started as a bit of a silly idea - #tututuesday - has grown into something wonderful! It’s about finding your inner princess, celebrating all things whimsical and girly, and giving in to that playful, free-spirited part of ourselves, and I have to say, it feels amazing to do this together as a town. It's become such a brilliant way to bring people together in a town that can often feel forgotten - we were out, we were seen and we had fun. I met so many people who’d dressed up just for the occasion - they said that this was a moment where they could just feel empowered - there is a wonderful energy and liberation, a sense of joy, a sense of togetherness, and yes a hint of glitter that just made it perfect!

Later on, I even met up with some of my fellow Tutu tribe members at the #Discosnail in Pontypridd - now there's a place that’s full of charm, with great tunes, colourful cocktails, disco balls and even its own glitter cannon! We’ll I got completely lost in the atmosphere, danced for what felt like hours. I couldn’t remember the last time I'd had such a good time! #discosnail

So, there you have it! A perfect day, Tutu Tuesday in Pontypridd. 💖🌸✨
