Wellington Tutu Tuesday: A Day of Disco-tastic Delights

Hello, darlings! It's your girl, Lily, back with another post, this time with a seriously sparkly spin! Wellington is a city known for its vibrant culture, its stunning harbour, and yes, even its **#tututuesday** craze! Let me tell you, Tutu Tuesday here is not for the faint of heart (or the unfashionably dressed, lol).

The streets of Wellington are a swirling kaleidoscope of pink, purple, and glitter every Tuesday. Seriously, I've never seen so much sequined tulle in one place outside a performance at the Royal Opera House. But it's not just about the tutus. It's about the attitude, the playful energy, the sheer joy of self-expression! It's like everyone's suddenly channeling their inner disco queen, even the postmen are wearing glitter shoes!

Tutu Styles: From Classic to Out There!

There's a tutu style for every personality!

  • There are the **classic**, elegant tutus, like the graceful "bell tutu" and the structured "powder puff tutu" worn by those channeling the ballerinas of yesteryear. These are often in delicate pastels - think ballet pink and whisper-soft lavender.
  • But then there are the tutus that push boundaries. Think neon colours, bold geometric patterns, even tutu skirts fashioned from actual disco balls! (Trust me, I've seen them!) Some embrace a bit of gothic chic, with black lace tutus or tutus adorned with skulls. And then, there are the playful, cheeky ones, with tutu tops or even just tutu "wings" that make an instant statement. It's like the tutus become an extension of your personality.

And let's not forget about the accessories! I saw a lady yesterday who paired her sequined tutu with a neon-pink, platform disco shoe, and she was definitely a vision. Hair glitter is essential, as are chunky platform shoes and some serious, iridescent makeup.

#discosnail

My favorite new accessory has been the "Disco Snail." The story goes that, apparently, a snail who lived in the park here in Wellington just started appearing dressed in tiny sequined tutus, glitter makeup, and dancing to disco music. You can usually find them in the Botanic Gardens on a Tuesday.

People come from all walks of life: office workers, students, stay-at-home moms. It's incredible how such a fun, silly idea brings a whole city together! Even the locals embrace the spirit. It's all in good fun, and no one is taking themselves too seriously.

Honestly, Tutu Tuesday in Wellington is something you have to see to believe! Next time you're in town on a Tuesday, ditch the boring work clothes and go disco with the locals. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Oh, and if you're looking to embrace your inner Tutu Tuesday queen, here are a few tips for pulling it off:

  • Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone! Embrace the wildness!
  • Make sure your makeup is as dazzling as your outfit! You want to be radiant, so add a touch of shimmer and highlight.
  • Add some sparkly details! Don't be shy! It's all about having a good time.
