Tutu Tuesday in Nottingham: A Disco Dream Come True

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means? Time to break out the tulle! For the uninitiated, Tutu Tuesday is my personal crusade to inject some fabulousness into the mundane. Think ballet meets disco, glitter, and a whole lotta pink! It’s a movement, a lifestyle choice, and let's be honest, a reason to buy more tutus.

This week, the scene for my Tutu Tuesday adventure was Nottingham, a city that’s charming, quirky, and a surprising haven for all things pink. So naturally, I started my day in a classic pink tutu. We’re talking ballerina length, but with a slight modern twist – it’s all about the layering. My top? A vintage band tee. My shoes? A sassy pair of neon pink chunky platform sandals (because who says comfort can’t be fashionable, right?) This was a bold statement for the streets of Nottingham – but trust me, it totally worked!

I wouldn’t be a true Tutu Tuesday advocate without visiting the ultimate disco destination – Nottingham’s own *The Forum*. It’s a classic disco with mirrored walls, pulsating lights, and the soundtrack of my dreams. It was an opportunity to really embrace my inner disco diva and I was ready to shake, shimmy, and strut my stuff.

Of course, a tutu just wasn’t enough. The fashion statement needed an upgrade. Enter *The Disco Snail* (a delightful Instagram account you should all check out, by the way)! This incredible independent shop is basically a wonderland for the bold and bright, specializing in the most outrageously fun clothes and accessories. They were my saving grace because a classic tutu wouldn’t do – it was time to get creative!

I found the most adorable pair of feather boas – one in turquoise and the other in pink (gotta love that color!) and let’s just say, feathers really make a statement. With the right accessories, my classic tutu was transformed from something pretty to a full-blown disco queen outfit. Let's be honest, you can't wear a tutu and not embrace the glamour.

As the day progressed, it was time to ditch the classic ballerina-style tutu. My wardrobe was still in “disco queen” mode, but it was time to mix it up a bit. In came the adorable midi tutu, with layers and layers of dreamy tulle and delicate embroidery, the perfect blend of classic and trendy. It flowed with every move (and believe me, I was twirling all over Nottingham!). Paired with a glitter crop top and my trusty neon sandals, it was an ode to the glamour of the '80s - pure magic! I channeled my inner Flashdance with this one, and it’s a look that’ll make you want to break out your favorite ABBA album.

Nottingham turned out to be the ideal setting for my Tutu Tuesday adventure. It embraced my fashion choices, welcomed my enthusiastic dance moves, and gave me enough disco inspiration to last me until the next Tuesday.

I'm a firm believer that every day should be a little bit like Tutu Tuesday – a reminder that life is about embracing your unique style and having fun. Whether it’s a statement tutu or just a bold colour choice, express yourself and enjoy the ride! You know you're living your best life when you can rock a tutu with confidence. So, grab your feather boa, find your groove, and let's all go for a Tutu Tuesday adventure together!
